We loved this camp! It’s relatively easy to score a site along the fence (highly recommended). Hyaena came every night. Wonderful sounds throughout the evening. The kitchen block has hot water on demand, hot plates, microwave, and refrigerator freezer. Ablution block very clean and. Adequate for the number of campers. We brought our tent from home. Perfect for us

absolutely amazing! yes, the camp is only for camping but the facilities are new and its clean. what makes it special are the "visitors" in the evening - hyena! Great place! we will definitely come again and then stay at least 2-3 nights.

We recently spent 4 days camping here - it was absolutely amazing. We did not even have to go anywhere to see animals. There were buffalo who slept next to the fence. As well as the elephant that was there and the giraffe. It is a pity some people feed the hyenas - but it was still amazing. Cant wait to go again.

Lovely camp with excellent ablution facilities. Neat and working kitchen area. Many shady sites along fence with nice views of the river bed. Would have absolutely stayed longer if it were not for the SERIOUSLY problematic monkey issue. We were warned about the monkeys and Honey Badger but the aggressive behavior and relentless harassment of these monkeys made the experience very unpleasant. The damage they do to tents, including the fly screen of our pop-up whilst were sleeping at 5 in the morning just demonstrates the extent of the problem. Our neighbors had extensive damage and clean up after they managed to get in despite taking all the neccessary precautions .
To add to the issue it was obvious the electric fence was not working, with the monkeys using the fence to sit on to scout for their next victims.
We won't be back until this get some attention from the camp manager.

As well travelled game reserve campers we really appreciated this wonderful setellite camp. It's location near the Phabeni gate and it's proximity to the larger Orpen Camp make Maroela an ideal destination for those who prefer the quieter option over the larger camps. There are no shops, quite small (but very clean and adequate) ablution facilities and the camp attendant Zondi was very helpful. There is an electric power point available but other than that, bring your own. Highly recommended as camp and caravan sites go.

rustic campsite, private and good location. very clean setup with lots of game around the area. Orpen waterhole only 5 min drive from the camp. Tambotie tent camp also nearby, gravel road not in a good condition, but we realy enjoyed the stay of 9 nights in the camp, electricity available with communual kitchen, bathrooms very clean and the staff working in the camp very friendly. Daytrips done to nearby camps like Satara and Olifants camp. We also visited the picnic areas around the area like Tambavati and Nwanetsi - take a picnic basket to the nearby picnic sites were you can rent a gasbraai from the park and prepare your own breakfast at the site, just take all food along to prepare the breakfast. Maroela is a very quite campsite with only a few campsites so book in advance as it is a very popular campsite, hyenas is a regular visititor near the fence - please do not feed the animals near the fence.

This campsite close to Orpen Gate is a wonderful find. The campsites along the fence are shady, flat and spacious. The pool at Orpen overlooks a waterhole so you can while away time in between game drives and the shop is well stocked and the staff very friendly. Plan to spend a night or 3 here as it is a fair drive towards Satata but allows you to be away from the masses if you prefer a little peace and quiet.
