Plains Camp is situated in the heart of a private 12 000 hectare wilderness concession 10km north east of Skukuza Rest Camp in the world famous Kruger National Park. The concession is an environmentally sensitive area which was previously unexplored, with huge diversity of both fauna & flora - an ideal setting for wilderness walking safaris in an internationally renowned big five area.It comprises of 4 en-suite luxury African explorer style tents with all the comforts of home with the African Wilderness on your doorstep. Built in authentic pioneer tradition, it has the serenity of a 19th century naturalist's rest, nestled in an Acacia Knobthorn thicket.Expansive decks surround the lounge and dining areas from where one can survey the vast Timbertene Plains and watch the big 5. The plunge pool is an ideal place to retreat during the heat of the day while the animals drink at the nearby waterhole.Guests can choose to walk to "Sleep Outs" - a giant tree house and spend a night under the African Skies.

A great team dedicated to looking after their clients. All polite, courteous and knowledgeable. Excellent sightings for both mammals and birds. Amazing to see elephants while being in the swimming pool or sitting on th deck with a cup of tea. We can't wait to come back!

We had the pleasure of visiting Rhino Walking Safari's on our Honeymoon. We were guided by 2 very knowledgeable and fun guides, Darryl and Amos, and got to experience nature on a whole new level. It was unbelievable. Highly recommend this trip to anyone that loves the outdoors and being in nature.

We were absolutely blown away by our stay at Rhino Walking Safaris Plains Camp! We had expected our walks/hikes to be similar to the "bush walks" you get at most safari lodges, where you see mostly animal tracks and flora, but it was not at all the same. We saw so many animals on foot including lots of big game, which we did not expect going into it. It was such a unique experience seeing animals in their natural environment with nothing else around you for kilometres, and while you don't get as close as you do in a safari vehicle, the sightings were just as exciting (or even more so!) and we always felt safe with our guides Darryl and Amos. To say Rhino Walking Safaris exceeded our expectations would be an understatement - it was definitely a highlight of our trip! The staff were absolutely lovely and went above and beyond to make our stay extra special - thank you to Darryl, Amos, Trinity, William and Precious for the most incredible experience.

I wanted to go on a walking safari and initially booked at the lodge. Having a sense I was wrong I phoned and was immediately transferred to Plains Camp. They were very attentive to my special requests and certain things cannot be put into words. The remoteness, the guide and tracker, the room, the food and staff, everything was spot-on to what I was looking for. Darryl Sheedy (our guide) and Amos (tracker) formed a perfect combination and the balance between quiet and attentiveness to our needs were simply magical. His knowledge of the bush simply delivered on every expectation. I can go on and on! Words fail to explain how amazing my, and eventually our group of strangers’, experience was. Eternally thankful!

We had an incredible stay at Rhino Walking Safaris. Andrew, Albino, William, Trinity and Precious made it extra special. Great service and they made us feel right at home (wish Plains camp was home :-) The camp is secluded and overlooks a watering hole which adds to the magic. The tents and communal area is stylishly decorated and comfortable. William's food was amazing and we were more than well fed throughout our two day stay. Andrew is a fantastic guide, who shared many interesting facts with us - we absolutely loved the walks and safari drives and all the effort he went to to make our time enjoyable and educational. I can honestly highly recommend this experience at Rhino Plains Camp. I took my two teenage boys (13 and 15) with to create memories and they LOVED it. There is a level of peace you find in the bush that is very special. Thank you to all the staff at Rhino Plains Camp. We would love to come back! Keep up the great work.
