I booked a Safari Tent at Nkambeni on a last minute trip to the Kruger National Park. My booking was through booking.com , their front office staff called me and were able to make suitable arrangements for my 3 kids. On the day of arrival , they advised me about the park's gate closing time. Our tent was set out as per my request . This was our first time Safari Tent experience and my family enjoyed it. Check in process was smooth. The food at the restaurant was good and staff were helpful.

We were HUGELY disappointed with this place. We checked out after one night. We had, in fact, paid in full for 3 nights. The photos and 'blurb' on the website give the impression of an exclusive kind of place right in Kruger. The tents were actually very very close to each other so we could hear everything from the shouting people next door and up the path. Yes, it may technically be in Kruger, but the park is not easily accessible. We had to go through the gate procedure each time we wanted to go for a drive. We were interested in a night safari and were told that 'because of covid' there were no night safaris (whaat?). All other companies have resumed full safari services and the government has removed the mandate for mask wearing. The rooms were photographed to look more spacious and restful. The actual room was run down, furniture was ratty, no cover to sit outside for protection from the elements. There was water pouring down the inside of the tent and this was obviously a normal happening because there was mold where it had occurred before. We have stayed in several tents like these in other places in Sth Africa and none were like this. This is just poor maintenance. We paid a lot for this holiday as we had to get two tents because we have 3 children and we have just lost a great deal of money. But it really was not viable to continue to stay there.

We had a very very good stay at Nkambeni. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating with any requests. The food is outstanding - every meal had us commenting how good it was. The tents are very quaint and comfortable and the main entrance to the park (Numbi Gate) is maybe 1.5km from the camp. Great experience all round.

Accommodation was perfect for our family of 5. The rooms are just what is needed for a trip to the reserve. We are early in the park and late out the park people so the clean rooms, with clean linen, aircon and hot water was just what was needed. The room was complete with a king sized bed and a bunk bed and an indoor and outdoor shower in the bathroom. The food was delicious at breakfast and dinner and the drinks prices at the bar were reasonable. The location inside the outer Numbi gate was perfect for skipping the early morning rush so we only had to leave the camp at 5:25 to be in the front of the queue at the main Numbi gate at 5:30. The lawn outside in the garden are perfect to enjoy an afternoon cocktail around the pool. Covid protocols were well observed. We will definitely be back

The tents need some serious upgrading it smells like a sewer inside the floors are old and look bad the camp is also not in the park as we thought. So every day you have to pay…sorry but thi place will never see me again very bad value for money it is totally overpriced. The only good thing was the friendly staff and the food was also good….

This was a really cool place to stay as it is located inside Kruger National Park. It is fenced but there is a possibility of seeing/hearing the wildlife just outside the fence. We were with an overlanding group but upgraded to the rooms/huts. They were very clean and spacious. The main dining area is huge, we unfortunately didn't get a chance to eat here as our meals were cooked by our tour group. We did get to enjoy the bar though and they had delicious, large, good priced cocktails. The outdoor and pool area is beautiful. There is also a natural pond just outside the fence where you may see hippos swimming very close! If you are doing a guided 4x4 vehicle tour of the park, which I highly recommend as there are areas those vehicles can go that personal vehicles can't, they wait for you right outside the gait and it's a less than 5minute drive to the entrance gate of the park. I highly recommend staying here.

Nkambeni rests hidden away in Southern Kruger, just between Numbi Gate and the park entrance. Our beautiful little tent had the most amazing bed and view right into the park, where we were able to watch wildlife from our balcony. The staff was incredibly friendly and the meals left little to be desired. We booked the sunset safari and the full day safari with Collen- who was fantastic.

The place is clean. The beds just hypnotize you into sleep. The outside showers very spacious. The candle-light dinners WOW. The FOOD mouth-watering. Saw 2/big5-would love extra long game drive next time. The Covid safety measures are in place. The service when we arrived-our bags were delivered to our rooms. Each tent has its own geyser. I love the fact that there was no TV in my room. Few issues: one night there was a traditional music item which we loved, but then to relax at the bar with our drinks and music (not playing loud) we were told that is not allowed...how? if the traditional dancers were playing drums? Also on the last night we were not allowed to chill by the boma and have a fire. This must change.

We had such a nice time at Nkambeni Safari Camp. The pool that overlooks the Kruger and the Hippos that are in and out of the dam is just magical. You can also hear their "chatter" It is a fenced camp so you are safe with children, but close enough to still hear hyenas in the night. The tented rooms are really nice and perfectly decorated with enough space, we were comfortable with 2 adults,a child and a baby in a cot. I really loved the outdoor shower. We also enjoyed the bar men- they were real sports. The tents are close to each other, so you do hear other guests, but it did not bother us- as for the price it is great value for money, but this might be a concern for others- so I rather mention it! We saw Elephants and buffalo walking by right by the fence! Was two nights of bliss and we did not even go out on a drive. Food was also great, would recommend half board. We were there when there were only a few guests, so would love to come back when the camp is full! Thank you!
