Hello there. My Family and I are travelling from Australia and arriving into SA in Johannesburg. Would you recommend us hiring a car to travel from the airport so we could use it during the stay there? Do we have to book the game reserve visits separately and if so how much per person as an estimate? Do we use their vehicles?
Thank you Husain

In general I also recommend to hire a car in Jo'burg and drive to Hoedspruit by yourselves, the drive is 5hours and the main benefit is that you have more flexibility to move around the area whilst here, the flight to Hoedspruit is quite expensive and especially for a family it will financially make more sense to hire a car. Even the Kruger national park can be driven by yourself, in which case you only pay entrance fees (R280 per person), and petrol of course. There are different options for game drives on private big 5 game reserves in the area, as well as full day Kruger trips in an open vehicle. With your own car, you would also be flexible to do the panorama route (blyde river canyon) in a day trip by yourselves easily (I will give you a map at the lodge).. I mailed you with details. I can assist you with the bookings of activities if you would like.
