My wife and I stayed at Muunga Bush Lodge and Spa for four nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was perfect! On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, Ruan.
Ruan was an exceptional host, who went out of his way to ensure that our stay was most memorable. The photographs of the Lodge do not do justice to how beautiful it actually is! The Lodge is well-maintained, our room was spotless and the modern finishes throughout give great aesthetic pleasure.
Our meals were delicious and Ruan ensured that our dietary requirements were catered for.
Muunga Bush Lodge and Spa is an absolute gem and we will definitely return.

I booked an overnight stay at Muunga Bush Lodge with my girlfriend 2 weeks ago. The intention was to crash there before heading out on Safari the next day. Little did we know that it would be one of the biggest highlights of our 2-week break in South Africa. Ruan picked us up from Hoedspruit airport and took us on a shortcut to the lodge through areas packed with wildlife - we saw giraffes crossing the road, zebras and loads of antelope! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel really welcome by both Ruan and his wife. I can't overstate how awesome this couple is. So friendly. They gave us loads of useful tips for the rest of our time in South Africa that really set us up for an incredible holiday. When we left, Ruan even took us on a drive through town and waited with us whilst we got our SIM cards sorted - It was like nothing was too much trouble for them. The food cooked by an onsite chef was unbelievable. I'm vegan, my girlfriend isn't and we were both blown away by the quality of the food, both for dinner and breakfast the following morning. South Africa has a lot of incredible food and these were still 2 of the best meals of the holiday. In the evening a few bush babies came down the tree outside (see picture) to eat bananas Ruan left out - super cute! It's telling of how awesome this 24h stay was that I have said so much and not yet mentioned the lodge itself. The lodge is out of this world. I felt like I was in a 5 star resort but much more private. The room and bathroom were very spacious and modern but still comfortable and homely. There's a beautiful, relaxing pool area with plenty of wildlife nearby. Just behind the pool is a fence from where we saw a warthog, several types of antelope and many exotic birds. I can't fully do Muunga Bush Lodge or the incredible hosts justice with words... or even pictures for that matter. I wish only that we'd stayed for longer. My recommendation - go there, and give yourself at least a few days or like us, you'll regret it!

A fantastic experience. Ruan is the perfect host. This is a beautifully furnished, intimate lodge. The food is fantastic and we enjoyed the spa, cycling around the nearby trail and Ruan arranged an excellent game drive. I’d highly recommend Muunga Lodge and hope to return soon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the hosts went the extra mile to make sure that we were taken care of, the massages that we booked were very relaxing. The hosts ensured that our activities were booked and all we did was relax and enjoy. What an AWESOME experience, a real gem in Hoedspruit and can strongly recommend this special place to each and everyone. From arriving until departure, Ruan and Jenny were always ready to make our stay even more pleasant and went out of their way making this the most memorable experience ever. We spent a lovely weekend at Muunga Bush Lodge for our 28th wedding anniversary. We had a very special and romantic weekend. The food was delicious, the peace and quiet, the room and not to mention the bed was incredibly comfortable. WOW!! We enjoyed relaxing at the pool, going for a walk and sitting outside in nature. In the evening we sat outside at a bonfire. The attention to detail and the hosting by Jenny and Ruan was fantastic. The lodge is very stylish and comfortable. I also had the best full body massage I have ever experienced. A weekend to remember. Thanks very much. We loved it.

The Lodge is beautiful! Interior is georgeous. Ruan and his wife have put all their soul there. Ruan is super helpful with each and every request. Just note that you need a car, if you want to move around. We absolutely recommend Muunga bush lodge if you visit Hoedspruit!
