This lodge is located in a beautiful part of our country. The surrounding roads aren't in great shape so keep that in mind when traveling. The lodge itself is well maintained. The luxury cottage is spacious and clean. Due to Covid they adjusted their breakfast but there is still a wide variety to choose from and the fresh croissants are delicious. It was lovely to hear the bush babies at night and seeing the baboons play on the lawn in the morning. Very friendly and helpful staff. Thank you
It was lovely to arrive here to the welcome of the staff from the security guard to reception and then resturant staff, after a 30 hours trip from home, felt like we were home. we had the family lodge, spacious and comfy, felt reassuring to have the mosquito nets- despite not needing them. We loved not having a vast menu to try and choose from, food was tasty and well cooked, and we felt good value. Breakfast very good. Would happily stay here again.
Lovely property and a very pleasant experience in every way. It is situated a bit out of the way - the Blyde River Canyon itself and the famous landmarks are a drive away across the mountain (hence the name is somewhat misleading), but definitely worth coming nonetheless. Setting is beautiful anyway, and the whole lodge tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable (stayed in the loft room in the main building). Service is impecable, and there is a bonus of those zebras, wilderbeast and impalas on the property. Breakfast was delicious and the dinner absolutely fantastic (greatest compliments to the chef), but pricey. It doesn't come included in the accomodation package, so be prepared. Highly recommended all in all.
My family stayed for 2 nights in the 2 bed cottage which was clean, comfortable and very spacious. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent and staff friendly and attentive. Lovely grounds with friendly wildlife roaming freely. Great base for the Blyde river canyon which is a 10 minute drive away.
Very good food, nice service, accommodated dietary restrictions with no fuss, zebra and impala on site are fun, gardens nice, stars/ milkyway nice at night. This is a good option for an overnight stay near the Blyde Dam ( take boat ride to see hippos & Crocs. Also consider a short hike near dam as well. See small exhibit on area/ dam).
