My husband and I spent 3 nights at Becks Safari Lodge on the Karongwe game reserve. We could not fault the service, ammenities, food and most importantly the attention to detail as regards Covid-19 protocol. Our Safari guide Nathan was an absolute savant when it came to knowledge of African animals,birds and plants. His knowledge and enthusiasm was one of the highlights of each Safari. I must also mention the tracker Johannes who bravely sat on the seat attached to the front bumper bar of the game viewing vehicle. His eagle eyes at spotting the most obscure tracks were nothing short of amazing.

My best friend and I visited Beck's in September as a belated birthday trip for her. It was a trip we had planned in March and unfortunately due to lockdown, had to postpone on numerous occasions. From the minute we arrived, we were in heaven. We even tried to stay another night but alas they were full. I think we both shed a tear the day we checked out. The food, the staff, the beds and our ranger team - the incredible Freddy and Herbert - made our entire trip nothing short of spectacular! Freddy & Herbert are honestly the best guide and tracker we have ever had and between my friend and I, we have been to 80% of all the major game reserves in SA! We will be back as soon as we have managed to save enough money to do so. If you are thinking of going to the bush, do yourself a favour and stay at Beck's!…

For my husband’s birthday we booked into Beck’s Safari Lodge. What a beautiful place. We’ve been thoroughly spoiled by everyone from the booking and reservations team to the security guard who walks you to your room at night (this is big five country after all). We got a call midday on the day we were traveling by road from Johannesburg to enquire what time we would be arriving so that they would be ready for us. from the moment they met us on the car park to the moment they waved us goodbye 4 days later we were treated like royalty. The food and drinks are fantastic and so much food! Personal chats with the chefs who come to your table to make sure you’re happy. A bar man who has a way different understanding of single and double than we did left us happy and content. The game drives with Nathan and Freddie were amazing. Such knowledge to share not only of the big five but to the tiniest flower, insect and frog. Such passion for their work. Freddie is the bravest man I’ve ever met, riding point and staring down a full grown Cape buffalo- wow I was squirming in the back of the safari land rover, but there was no need to be afraid, Nathan had it all under control and never once put us in danger. Our room was immaculate and luxurious with a stunning view. Sleeping under the mosquito net listening to the sounds of the African bush. What more could you need? You cannot leave Africa- she is always with you. There inside your head. Her rivers run in currents in the swirl of your thumb prints, her drumbeats counting time to your pulse. Her shoreline a silhouette of your soul and her wild spaces the beating of your heart. No matter where and how far you travel a little piece of Africa will always be in you. Come home soon.…

Becks Safari Lodge is the perfect mix of luxury and rustic. We throughly enjoyed the natural scenery, the pool, the beautiful animals, and the great food. The staff were incredibly attentive and kind and took extra steps to ensure our safety during Covid-19. They were very accommodating to our 2 year-old son and organized kid-friendly activities. Our guide, Nathan, and tracker, Johannes, were AWESOME. Nathan imparted so much knowledge, and thanks to their tracking skills, we had incredible animals sightings. Karongwe and Becks is a world class destination. This is a highly recommended experience for those looking for a luxurious but laid-back safari experience.
