I found this lodge to be filled with simple pleasures. Aesthetically nice and natural without being rustic or fake. The grounds were well cared for and invited zebras, ostriches, baboons and other critters to wander the property. My room was comfortable and backed up against the bush which I loved. The food was simple, lovely and a great mix of local and familiar fare. The staff enjoyed making connections with the guests without being over done. The location makes it easy to get into Kruger and other private reserves rich with wildlife. One of my favorite aspects was the elevated overlook. I enjoyed spending an afternoon in the treetops catching up on my journal and daydreaming to the sounds of the birds. It is also a great place to catch the sunset!

My Husband and I stayed here for three nights as part of our travelling honeymoon around South Africa. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and it was beautiful. Very clean with a lovely bath and outdoor shower. All the staff at the lodge are very welcoming and friendly and they are there to help at any time. The food was amazing and very tasty. We had a great drive in the Kruger and a private reserve with wonderful guides who are very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this lodge as the owners and their staff went above and beyond to make our stay one to remember forever.

Thank you so much Vincent and your wonderful team for making your buffet dinners gluten free for me, and everyone else staying! They were delicious, as was the home made garlic bread, such a treat. The care your staff took to make sure I was safely catered for went above and beyond expectations anywhere. The lodge rooms are gorgeous and the sunset lookout deck in the treetops was perfect.

I've never experienced such wonderful accommodation as did during my stay at Thornhill. The room was immaculate and the staff are so thoughtful - they are demonstrably passionate about their work and care so much that each guest has the trip of a lifetime. For me it was just that - I feel I got to experience Kruger to the fullest despite only being able to spend just about 2 days there. The Thornhill staff ensured that my transport was on time, that I got plenty of time in the park, that I ate incredibly well (probably the best food I've ever had!), and that any special accommodations I needed were met. I will have wonderful memories of my stay at Thornhill for the rest of my life and am so grateful to everyone who made this experience of a lifetime possible - your hard work

Our stay in Thornhill was absolutely lovely. We were greeted with a lot of love from the start by the manager, Vincent who is very helpful and will try his best to make your stay as good as possible. The whole staff is really good, the barman Connor is a very fun to talk guy and makes really good cocktails, he was also very helpful! The Chefs are really amazing as well the food was amazing with a lot of variety and a very unique combination of spices and flavours and served by a bonfire in a rustic setting that made the experience even more magical. The guides, Lambs (hope I wrote it right 🙏) and Goodman are very knowledgeable, friendly and funny, both have many years of experience in the industry and will definitely make all the activities you do with them even better.
