Cheerio Resort is a peaceful escape from our busy lives. After a few days we leave refreshed and relaxed. The walks accommodate all ages and Beefwood cottage has no stairs or obstacles for the elderly. An unexpectedly cool spell gave us an excuse to enjoy wood fires in the evenings.

The cottages at Cheerio Trout Fishing & Holiday Resort are is a very nice location in Magoesbaskloof.
The scenery, gardens and mountains views in Magoebaskloof are lovely.
Nice location for a relaxing time.
The cottages are well kept and clean.
We stayed in The Stone Cottage and it was well equipped for our requirements Eg kitchen, stove, bathrooms, bedroom and braai.
The Stone Cottage has an “older feel” to it but was very nice.
Some of the other cottages have “newer” facilities
The views towards the forests and mountains from all the cottages are “super”.
From the cottages you can walk down to the trout dam which is very scenic.
We received friendly service from staff and owners( Alf None)
We will definitely return again and recommend to friends

My wife and I visited Cheerio with my brother-in-law and his wife, and stayed in the Forest Cottage. The house was perfect for us with separate rooms, each with a bathroom, on either side of a large living room and kitchen. The resort was nice and quiet, despite visiting of New Years, and it was fun to explore the beautiful Cheerio Gardens (with exciting sightings of samango monkeys and Knysna louries). In addition, Julia at the reception was very friendly and helpful, going out of her way to help with our laundry in a rainy period. Cheerio comes highly recommended if you want to spend some time with family or friends in the Magoebaskloof area,

The setting is stunning and beautiful, and we loved the area and gardens. The property overall is nice, and especially Jady the caretaker was very accommodating and helpful. Unfortunately, there are various signs that everything is quite dated by now, and there has been a lack of updating/investment. It seems the area also suffers from frequent power cuts, so having backup power would have been goods (We had no power 2 out of 4 days).

As a result, and considering the alternative in the immediate vicinity, we felt it was now quite overpriced.

The accomodation was very comfortable with stunning views. The units are far enough apart that we were not even aware of the other guests. The birdlife was amazing and the farm was quiet and peaceful. We didn't have the greatest weather but when it wasn't raining, the hikes through the pine forests and natural forest at Cheerio Gardens was breathtaking! Beautiful pool, jungle gum and ample space for the kids to run and play! I would highly recommend this accomodation to any family looking for a bit of peace and quiet set in beautiful surroundings!

Accommodation was excellent, lacked for nothing, also the scenery...awesome but the best was the friendliness of ALL the staff. Fishing for trout in February is always a challenge, caught nothing but hopefully will try again in winter. The little town of Haenertsburg that is a few kilometers away is a gem and well worth a stroll around plus of course indulge in one of the many places to have a meal.

Good place for a mini break. Comfortable cottage with everything you need. Close to amenities and local attractions. Outside deck could do with some attention, some loose boards could cause an injury.

We stayed in Forest Cottage which has two bedrooms with doors opening up on a terrace with an exceptional view of the pine plantation. It's such a relaxing location. The grounds are beautiful and so fun to explore with many gorgeous lakes and beautiful unique plants.

We recently visited this beautiful quiet establishment for the weekend. We were blown away by the natural beauty of the surrounds, the cabin was spacious and comfortable and the contactless check in and check out was convenient for my family.

If I had believed some reviews I would have missed out on an incredible experience for my family and I.

We are pretty keen to come over the Christmas period Jady!
