Due to COVID-19 restrictions and closure of International borders my wife and I have been staying at the Royal Elephant Hotel for the past five months.
From day one the staff of all divisions including the CEO Gert van Wyk have made us feel at home with their friendliness and exceptional service.
The rooms are clean, comfortable with a massive shower and big bathroom.
The food is excellent and supported by great service in both restaurants, Zegora Grill Room and newly opened Pashash Pizza Pub and Grill.
The location is superb.Near shopping malls, golf courses and access to both Oliver Tambo and Lanseria airport’s.
I can honestly recommend the Royal Elephant for a very pleasant stay.

I booked a couple special via the Mangwanani Spa situated on the grounds which included 2 lovely spa treatments & an overnight stay at the Royal Elephant hotel in Centurion. It was awesome, I would highly recommend Konoto at the Spa for any treatments. The room was amazing, we went to the Zagora restaurant (which has incredible Kingklip) that evening, enjoyed a complimentary breakfast the next morning before checking out and heading back to the Spa for an added treatment we wanted to do. It was amazing! Highly recommend them.

The spa experience was absolutely phenomenal. Breakfast and lunch served at the Zagora Resturant was good BUT the supper was disappointing, and therefore not the value for the money we spent. The pork belly crackling was burnt and the outer layer of the lamb shank was tough (sinew- unchewable) while the sauce was way too sweet and not the Moroccan flavoured as promised. However, both meats were tender. The room was prepared for one guest while we were a couple. But it was clean, huge bathroom with double shower and vanity, with high speed WiFi. We enjoyed out little night away from the big city.

Normal stay over for 2 nights Dinner was not impressive. Breakfast was not ready at 6:30 on both mornings. No effort was made for breakfast once ready
The showers require a deep clean scrub to clean and sanitize the tiles and grouting, thereafter a good sealer to be applied
Reception personnel helpful

We've stayed at R.E many times over the years, the decor and ambiance has not aged and still captivates me. It's sad to note that maintenance has not been great, faulty doors, broken handles and light fittings. Sometimes it's just worth having staff stay there and be critical.

We booked into the hotel after 02:00 in the morning and were delighted with beautifully appointed rooms and a luxurious bathroom.
The coffee and tea station was clearly of a higher standard than the usual and the hotel decor was a delight
We were welcomed upon arrival and the front desk even made sure we were guided to our room.
Thank you

Breakfast was pathetic. Buffet on Sunday was poor, with none of the plate being refilled. The buffet is supposed to be open until 11h00, but at 10h45 the buffet doors were closed.
The A La Carte breakfast works on a pathetic system, of "building" your breakfast to a limit of ZAR125. With half an avocado costing ZAR 40, you can imagine what you get for your breakfast.

We decided to stay at Royal Elephant after experiencing prolonged power outages in Centurion. We ordered room service for dinner, and the food was really good. We did have to wait over an hour for dinner, but it was well worth the wait! The rooms are tidy and the décor lovely. The bathrooms are absolutely beautiful! Breakfast the following morning was a buffet breakfast with more than enough variety. Staff were all exceptionally friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

When we arrived to check-in the lady at the counter couldn't access our booking which I had made on booking.com and she made it seem as if this was our fault which was a bit frustrating. We had to wait quite a while until she was able to access it to confirm that I had already paid for the booking.
The hotel itself was beautiful. The carpets in the bedrooms should be removed or updated as they are old and stained and spoils an otherwise lovely room!
The biggest issue we faced was that the generator stopped working during our stay...mind you this was during a heatwave and the situation was handled poorly by staff. We had to go to our rooms early because staff was closing down the bar and outside area when loadshedding kicked in. They had no emergency lights at all to give to guests to use in the rooms which besides being unacceptable is also a safety risk. What if someone gets hurt or injured on your property in the dark? The staff had no response to anything except to say that they could not help us with anything and could not even look us in the eye. My parents who are in the 70s had to make their way up the stairs and be in their rooms with no lights available at all. The hotel is dark in general and with no lights on at all was not a pleasant experience. How were people supposed to use the bathroom as well in the dark? Staff should have also atleast made sure people had enough water as there was a heatwave with no aircons. Extremely disappointed that we paid to stay at this hotel and did not receive the general facilities we should have had and the attitude from the staff was unacceptable. Very disappointing to have paid so much for this experience
