Besides being on the beach, On the Beach was built and staffed to provide our discerning Local and International clients with the best that Africa can provide. On the Beach is the GREENEST hotel in Africa. We have Photovoltaic roof panels that provide most of our electricity which is used for underfloor heating and hot water for the bathrooms and kitchen. It is also used to power the heat-pumps for the Jacuzzi at 33C and the swimming pool at 30C throughout the year. All bedroom suites have double glazing which cuts out most of the sound of the surf. Air conditioning and ceiling fans are provided for your sleeping comfort. All suites have USB and International power sockets as well as a full array of Direct Satellite TV stations (including live sporting fixtures) But best of all we have 3 live-in staff Joseph and his young brother Abraham from Malawi and Stanford (Stan) from Zimbabwe. Well...for the first time am I able to rate a South African establishment to be perfect for a holiday. The views are to die for throughout the B n B & the atmosphere extremely relaxed , despite the tasteful and high class furnishings throughout ,yet,providing a beach side feeling..
There is not only a large, terrace, heated pool but a delightful jacuzzi situated on a private terrace to the rear of the building with direct access to the rooms.The pool and jacuzzi are extremely clean and well maintained every day.
In addition, all the staff are unobtrusive yet highly attentive to the clients' needs.Leila ,the manageress ,is always available for advice and assistance.What impressed us most was her 'motherly' care she took for an elderly , handicapped guest at the breakfast table during our stay. In fact , all the staff are extremely friendly , polite and well trained.
The owners take care to pop in daily to ensure the efficient and effective running of their gem. They are highly approachable and always willing to be attentive to their clients' opinions , needs etc.
The rooms are very clean , modern and fresh in appearance. Even live orchids on the table of each room. They are also well stocked with iced, bottled water and a large supply of bottled fresh milk accompanied by a very wide range of coffees and teas which are fully restocked daily. There is also a coffee machine , should one prefer filtered coffee.The bathrooms are modern & large with excellent showers providing a plentiful supply of high pressured hot and cold water.Even stocked with candles for a romantic bath as well as a range of quality toiletries.
In the evenings guest are welcome to complementary red or white wine plus snacks Breakfasts are copious , food of the highest quality, served on the outer terrace or in the dining room overlooking the beach. A real delight on a beautiful , sunny morning.
Everything has been thought of to make the guest's experience the most memorable moment of their lives. Well done to all as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will most definitely return again.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful place. The views from our upstairs bedroom were amazing, we could stand in the shower and enjoy them! The room was large with very modern sleek decorations, very beautiful, the white fixtures complemented the blue and white amazing beach and sea view. the staff were so friendly, we loved Stan who needs a special mention for all his help. The breakfast on the balcony is like a dream its so fab. We enjoyed walking along the beach and browsing the small town very near On The Beach with plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from.

This was our third visit to OTB and I hope there will be many more! This is a superb guest house/boutique hotel of the highest order. It has everything....a fantastic position overlooking the Wilderness Beach, ultramodern decor, spacious rooms and superb service. Another positive is the easy, safe, walking access to the village of Wilderness where most of the local restaurants are situated.
Worth every rand but be warned, they only have seven rooms so you’ll have to book well ahead of time if you want to stay there.

A really wonderful place, right on the beach with terrific views. Staff could not have been more helpful and the manageress, Leila, really was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were served at our table overlooking the beach. A very special place. We would go back in a moment.

We have just departed from On the Beach having spent 2 nights of our honeymoon there. It is such a special and relaxing place, the decor, the views and breakfasts were excellent. The biggest asset though that this place has is its staff, so hospitable and couldn't do enough for you. We had suite 6 and throughly enjoyed our stay, hopefully we can return some day.

I arrived in the middle of season without a reservation and was very fortunate to find a suite. From my reception to the day I left I felt pampered and cared for. The hotel is situated on the beach with easy excess. My room had luxury furniture and amenities with a great coffee station with a variety of teas and coffees.

This is one of the easiest reviews I have ever written, there is simply nothing not to love about this remarkable guesthouse. The surroundings are sensational, of course, and you are able to step out from the accommodation straight onto the sandy beach, so a huge tick for that (they aren't lying with the name!). Then the decor and appointments are as good as the best I have experienced anywhere, with a high quality clean and modern appearance, everything you could need for your comfort, and an obvious attention to detail in every way. The room and bathroom were simply stunning. All of this would fall flat, however, if the service did not match the other high standards, but I am happy to report that it exceeds it. Our every need was attended to by Tracy and Pieter in a thorough, professional, and friendly way, we were truly made to feel very welcome. I cannot speak highly enough of On The Beach and really look forward to returning soon.

... On The Beach is really on the Beach. Location is unbeatable, two steps to the beach and a very short walk to the majority of Wilderness' restaurants and shops. Add to that a great breakfast served on the sundeck with awesome views.
Rooms are nice and big, proper kingsize bed, huge bathroom and sitting area, all in a tasteful and modern light design, Upstairs rooms have a small balcony where you can just sit, but it offers unlimited sea views all day.
