On our travel along the Garden Route this place is the one we would have liked to stay longer - but it was not possible for just 2 easy reasons - our next place was booked and more important - we were one of the last guests in this lovely place. Sue and Phil have sold their home and retire. The new owner will not operate a B&B but just live there. For 2 days we were the only guests, and Sue provided a breakfast as if we were 6 people .... Amazing.

Our room was very comfortable, with a door leading to a wide verandah, overlooking a lovely garden. An excellent breakfast was served at a table on the verandah, next to bird feeders, where a wide variety of birds, including the Knysna Loeries, fed very close to us - a super experience!
Sue and Phil were very attentive hosts, ensuring that we had a memorable stay with them..

Spent a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing 3 nights at the Kingfisher Country House with a friend. The house and gardens are just beautiful and incredibly conveniently located for the Wilderness Nature Reserve. We did not have a car but the village was within easy walking distance and there is a very affordable shuttle bus that runs in the evening. Sue, Phil and their son were all incredibly helpful, kind and gave very useful advise and suggestions. Breakfast was excellent and the room and house spotless. It was quite like staying with old friends or family members. I would highly recommend the the Kingfisher Country House to anyone looking for a homely experience in Wilderness.

A week (nov 26 - dec 3) at this charming country house has been a great experience! Sue, Phil and Nick made us feel really part of their family. All the rooms are beautiful with a cosy atmosphere and very clean.
We were 5 friends and everyone was extremely happy. Sue gives all information you can imagine, places to visit, restaurants, walks, etc, providing leaflets, maps, making bookings for you, just a precious stone!
Breakfast is a dream, the terrace with the birds coming every morning to celebrate a new day, the great food served with home made marmalades, quiches, mushrooms, fresh fruit salads etc, etc...and delicious muffins and scones.
Thanks a million to this charming family who helped us to really enjoy this beautiful part of the world. It is a very long trip for us since we had to take 3 planes to come back home, otherwise we will be staying at Kingfisher Country House very often.

This is a very warm, comfortable and cozy place to stay in Wilderness. The very nice owners, Sue and Phil, made us all feel so welcome upon arrival, and accommodated us during our entire stay like friends we haven't seen in a while. The place is lovely, very clean, cozy and quiet with beautiful, lush, private greenery surrounding the entire property--like staying in your mom and dad's house in the country. The rooms are large and the beds are comfortable with on-suite bathroom/shower. The service Sue and Phil provided including the delicious hot breakfast, was outstanding. If you're looking for a quiet place to relax with a good book (they have plenty to choose from), or some nice bird watching (they have those too), away from all the hustle and bustle, this is the place to stay--Highly recommended. If we're ever in SA again, we'll be sure to make it a point to stay here once more.

As on our previous visits to this delightful guesthouse, Sue & Phil Millard made us feel so welcome & did everything possible to make our stay comfortable, interesting & very special. Sue takes great pleasure in cooking for her guests with delicious results. Both she & Phil have a passion for the beautiful area in which they live & their suggestions are always detailed & very helpful. Being situated at the edge of the forest, Kingfisher's garden sees many of the exotic forest birds, tempted to the feeding station which is kept well stocked. Animals such as Bushbuck visit too. There is always so much to see & to do here that we will keep coming back to this little piece of paradise as often & as long as we are able to.

My husband and I booked for 4 nights. We had a fabulous stay - relaxing, informative, quiet and were entertained by beautiful Knysna Loeries and many species of birds next to our Breakfast Table each morning. This is a an experience to remember!

Phil and Sue are amazing hosts - so welcoming and added to our tranquil stay. Sue has a wealth of knowledge of the surroundings and gave us invaluable tips of where to to visit and to eat - all experiences were very worth it! She is also an amazing chef! Thank you for spoiling us, Sue!
We will definitely be back and highly recommend the Kingfisher Country House - It is our preferred destination along the Garden Route! Merlene & Herman

Wonderful views of birds as you eat your breakfast. Turocos in the trees, plus a host of other birds.

Charming hosts who were pleased to give any information on the local walks. Breakfasts were indeed hearty. Excellent bedroom with plenty of room.

We had a great stay in Kingfisher Country House, were welcomed with tea and muffins on the veranda. The room was big with an extra sitting area besides. Beds were comfortable. The buffet breakfast was very good with hot and cold dishes. You sit on a veranda with a lot of birds right beside you including Knysna Loerie. Sue and Phil were very helpful in all ways and could give you information about the birds you saw, hiking trails, restaurants etc. This is a wonderful house with very good hosts and we can really recommend it.

We loved having breakfast within touching distance of forest birds, especially the briliantly coloured Knysa Lourie, and bushbuck wandering through the garden. Our room was large and airy with our own outside door and stoep to interact with passing wildfoul. Our hosts, Sue and Phil, were attentive and knowledgable - advising on local things to do and the environment. The breakfasts were very good with fresh fruit and yoghourt, a variety of hot food and home made muffins. This paridise is a very walk on unlighted road from Wilderness restaurants but they will pick you upon request,
