We stayed here for 4 nights from 29 Dec - 2 Jan . The Lodge is situated on a slope with views over the ocean & lagoon . The Rooms higher up have more panoramic views but be prepared to climb a few steps. Our stay was in room 13 & 14 , the Luxury Rooms with only about 20 steps to climb , close to Reception & a few steps away from the on site restaurant , where we enjoyed really good breakfasts & service , part of cost. The rooms were spacious with a coffee/tea station , a fridge , plenty of cupboard space & a safe. There was a small balcony where we enjoyed early mornings & evenings after a day out.
The Lodge is within walking distance of the town or so called Village , about 5-7min walk and about a 10min walk to the Lagoon.
We braaid/barbequed a few evenings which as very pleasant. If you staying in these rooms then bring along your own utensils/crockery as only self catering units have the necessary . There is also a braai facility next to the pool area .
The on site restaurant also has a bar & is open from 8am-5pm & has really great views over the ocean. There is of road safe parking behind a boom.
The Lodge was very peaceful & we certainly enjoyed our stay & would visit again. There were just a few minor things that impacted a 5 rating but overall from the booking experience & quick responses to e mails to the overall experience , it was great.

The lodge was really lovely. Good size room and bathroom.
The location is great and you can walk to all the bars/shops/restaurants in a few minutes. The walk back is up a fairly steep hill and the lodge has lots of stairs but it’s worth it.
The hosts were friendly and extremely helpful. You can tell they are very passionate about the lodge and area. They gave us recommendations of places to go and places to avoid.
Like everywhere in South Africa the lodge suffers from electric load shedding for hours each day. Other than not being able to use a hairdryer during these times you can hardly notice due to their solar back up. The owners were great with keeping us up to date with the load shedding schedule everyday so we always knew what was happening.
Wilderness is a great base for so many beautiful places nearby and the boardwalk lodge was excellent for the 4 nights we stayed. We hope to return one day.

The Garden Route in South Africa's Western Cape is certainly one of the most beautiful regions in a country that is not short of wonderful landscapes. And Wilderness is one of the most beautiful places there. If your trip takes you there, then we can definitely recommend the Boardwalk Lodge for an overnight stay. Situated in a slightly elevated position and just a few minutes' walk from the beach, the rooms are individual cottages nestled in the greenery like chalets. The rooms are spacious and equipped with everything you need for a pleasant stay. All important areas, such as the charming breakfast room, can be reached via wooden stairs. The two owners, Chris and Melissa, have created a real gem in one of the most beautiful places in South Africa. And there's no doubt that we'll be returning here on our next visit to Wilderness. The apartment was everything we needed… and more! The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We brought our own ground coffee, which was perfect with the supplied french press :). The views, sound of the ocean and the amazing fireplace during the cold winter nights was amazing! We could braai every evening on the really nice Weber. All in all a lovely stay! One tip is to bring your own extra small towel per person. Other than that, a perfect stay. We give it a 5/5!

Melissa, her staff and the lodge are perfect. We have felt so welcome and our room was great. The views are beautiful and it is just a short walk to and from the center (with nice restaurants) and the beach. Breakfast is very nice and the onsite pool was great to hang out on quiet afternoons. We would definately come back to Wilderness and the Boardwalk Lodge!

Although we only stayed here for one night, we would love to go back and stay for longer next time. The cabin was very large and felt more like a holiday home. One could easily stay here for days on end without feeling claustrophobic. Everything was very neat and clean (this is something I'm normally fussy about). Our porter was also very helpful with carrying our bags up the 150 steps and showing us how the gas fireplace works. I will definitely be back!

Very welcoming and friendly stuff, the room was clean and with a very nice bathroom, shower and tub. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a balcony with a beautiful view to the beach and ocean. Breakfast was very good, and the B&B is a very close to all restaurants in Wilderness. To the beach it is about 10 minute walk, and what a beach it is.

Great location. Staff were friendly and cleaning was thorough. Chalet was lovely.
There were a few minor things that didn't meet the expectations of a 4 star establishment. These are easy to fix by a bit more attention to detail. This detracted from perceived value. These were as follows:
Some of towels had frayed edges. Vegetable peeler was real "el cheepo" and the blade kept snapping out the cheap plastic. Cutlery and crockery (although all white) was a random selection and wasn't matching. Shower didn't drain properly due to hair and lint build up in the trap, which we removed. Door to second bedroom dragged on the floor where it is possible to sort out the hinges and hanging of the door.

Dear Rozanne, Thank you so much for your feedback. We appreciate hearing back from you and will have a look at the points you raised. We are aware of the door and it is a constant battle we are having. For some reason the hinges keep pulling lose. We do hope to see you again soon.

Boardwalk Lodge is a beautiful lodge built over a forest floor, overlooking Wilderness & the vastness of the ocean. We overnight in a luxury room, but the lodge also provide self catering units. Well appointed with coffee|tea facilities, dstv package and a large bath! Overall a good experience, just two points:
1. We were a couple and the room had 2x single beds pushed together, each with their own duvet. Normally hotels at least put a coversheet over both beds to make them one plus one big duvet. 2. I did miss a hair dryer.
Breakfast is served from 0800, which was too late for us, as we still had a long drive ahead. So no review on that portion.
The lodge is on a steep mountain side, so remember:
1. You need good clutch control on your vehicle. 2. Only stairs, and lots of them. Not suited for wheelchairs. 3. Lots of little animals & critters around at night on the staircases, so please watch where you walk.
All in all, an excellent stay!

Dear Liezel, Thank you so much for your feedback. We really appreciate hearing from our guests. I had a look at your booking and I can see the request came through asking for twin beds through the portal you booked with. Normally our rooms are made up for doubles unless requested. The hairdryer in this particular room can be found in the drawer underneath mirror as you walk into the room. I do apologize for this inconvenience. Other than that I am really happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and I truly hope we see you again soon.
