Located at the lagoon this is a wonderful location to relax and enjoy the nature. We even saw the Giant Kingfisher and the Green Turaco! Swimming and canoeing in the lagoon can also be recocommended. Very friendly staff, delicious breakfast.

We stopped at Wilderness for one night on our trip along the South African Coast. Moontide Guesthouse was a fabulous location set overlooking the lagoon with the opportunity to use their canoes and Pedalo to get closer to nature. It was a short walk to the wonderful beach and to Selina's Restaurant which overlooked it. We both had Fish dishes...

We visited Moontide a couple of years ago and returned this year. Moontide and Wilderness are absolutely worth staying a couple of days. Much to see and do in the area. From long beachwalks to canoeing and hiking. Rooms are good and clean. Our room was a bit dark though. Breakfast on the terrace is a daily highlight.

We booked the Stone Cottage for 2 couples for a two night stay. Very disappointing, this property is well overdue a makeover. Booked through a Booking Agency & the description of the rooms was misleading at best. The second room was described as a twin-room ensuite, which lead us to believe that there were two bathrooms, not two bedrooms sharing one...

Tim M, Manager at Moontide Guest House, responded to this review

This is one of the most distressing reviews, and terribly unfair. Firstly the booking was made through booking.com. Their room description is that the Stone Cottage has a King-size double bed, and 2 single beds with a shower and bath. Nowhere does it mention “second room” or "twin-room en suite” so how could they say they were mislead? It is...

We stayed in the Boathouse for one night on our trip through the Garden Route. We were greeted very warmly and the manager booked us a restaurant for that night at Selina's which was within walking distance. The boathouse smelt a little damp on arrival but it was very comfortable and clean. Quite shabby-chic. We used a canoe that evening...

Have to confess that when we arrived we weren't sure but the staff, location and quiet made it all worthwhile. Nestled on the banks of a lagoon it was so peaceful and calm it was like a retreat. You can choose your room if there's more than one available so ask to see a few. Each one is different. Tim...

A bit tired and disappointing, the garden area needs a good tidy up, swimming pool didn't look clean or inviting. The courtyard for stone cottage needed a good clean as mossy. Not quite sure how the telegraph gave it such a glowing review.

This hidden gem is fantastic! The most romantic place in this area. Everything is just as it should be; I really enjoyed my much too short stay at this place. So I'll be back for a much langer stay. Also Tim is an excellent host. Maureen, the owner, is a very nice and stylish lady and gives you good information what...

Moontide is a very special and hidden place in wilderness. The stuff was very friendly and they always have good recommandations for going out. Breakfast is nearly perfect. Beach is not far, just a short walk. Wifi sometimes does not work perfectly.
