We stayed in a comfortable cottage with a big outdoor area and a hot tub. The view is magnificent and so calming. The farm offers lovely walks in nature surrounded with cattle. I can recommend Oakhurst for families who want to get away from the rat race.

My family came to Oakhurst to close out the year with some much needed bonding time and R&R. This was our first time at the property but it certainly won't be the last. When one has teenagers who are constantly plugged into their devices, the worry is that farm life will become a bore and a bother. Not at Oakhurst! Between archery, feeding horses, canoeing, a dairy tour and so much more, there was MUCH to entertain. We loved the quaint amenities and the thoughtful detail that went into every aspect of our arrival and stay. If you're ever on the Garden Route it's worth a visit, even if it's for a day visit. In a word, it was lovely.

I highly recommend oakhurst farm. To get away from it all and simply relax. The freedom to ride bicycles and explore was great for the kids and the adults enjoyed the slower pace. We took advantage of all the activities and the dairy farm tour was educational for all. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. We loved the milk, butter and eggs from the farm shop as well. The Forge has a hot tub and pool which was an amazing part of the stay.

Communication was on pint, the directions were easy to follow. All staff gave us a warm welcoming. We wanted to be close together, and catch up after a busy work and school year, the cottage size was just perfect for family to be close together. Also enough cozy seats inside and outside. The views all round were fantastic!!! The farm shop was very convenient for us, on arrival the dinner and breakfast we had ordered was waiting for us in the fridge. In addition the shop is well stocked up with the basic food needs to make you feel at home. The activities were all relaxing and we learnt a lot from the professional archery session. We also learnt to appreciate the precession of all processes taken into producing milk and enjoyed a few hours old fresh milk in a chocolate milkshake made by the dairy farmer himself. Feeding and riding the horses was just amazing, the horses were so calm showing that they are really looked after so well.

As a group of moms traveling with our children during a road trip to the Garden Route (from Cape Town) we were very excited to visit Oakhurst as it had been on our list for a while. It was one of 4 stops we made during our trip. When making the booking we had asked if we could bring a 7th guest (a 3 year old boy who would sleep in a camper cot we would provide) which was agreed upon, and so we paid our deposit. A few days before we were due to arrive at Oakhurst, we found ourselves in a predicament, where one child who was previously going away with her dad, had to join us. We contacted all 4 venues, and every place except Oakhurst, was happy to help. It was unplanned and we couldn’t make alternative plans. Initially, Oakhurst refused to help us, but after begging over the phone they agreed that they would allow the extra child, only if we paid an extra R500 per night for her. They also emailed us to make it very clear that they would not supply any extra bedding, cutlery, plates, glasses, towels etc for the extra child. I thanked them and ensured that the extra child would not need anything extra and we were happy to fit her in. But we were left wondering why we were charged R1500 when they weren’t prepared to give us anything extra for that. The other 3 venues either didn’t charge us extra at all or charged us between R200 and R400 extra for the total of our stay for her, and made us feel so incredibly welcome. We considered canceling our stay at Oakhurst, but we were not within our cancellation dates and we would have had to pay the full amount if we canceled. I feel that the management at Oakhurst took full advantage of that fact, and bullied us into paying such a high amount for an extra child. Our reception was not the warm welcome that I’ve read about in other reviews for a few reasons, and not just for the above; and sadly we will not be visiting again. I feel that there are far better, value-for-money, and friendly venues to choose from. On a positive note, the cottage was well equipped (for 6 people), the outdoor seating area peaceful, and the hot tub a nice addition (although this type of hot tub uses a lot of wood to get it and keep it warm at least 4/5 bags per day in winter. So be prepared to spend a lot of money on the R60 per bag of wood that the venue sells to you).

Farm is beautiful and well run. The farm shop has everything one needs to make your stay even more pleasant. Lots of activities to keep the kids busy and staff were all warm and friendly. We stayed in the Forge and was spacious and comfortable, with the hot tub as an added bonus
