Location was amazing. If you enjoy great sunsets then you won't be disappointed. Hotel is located on top of a hill. Rooms need a modern touch though but it will suffice. Service for food from Johan (GM) was excellent. Kitchen was fully halaal which made it very convenient for myself ito meal planning. The hotel leads to a large stretch of sea shore which was perfect for the early morning runs and evening picnic with the wife and kids. Bring your laptop and and mini wifi for your evening entertainment before bedtime as the dstv does not have a great selection and wifi only works in the hotel foyer. The chocolate muffins for breakfast are as good as the sunsets
Booked this Hotel at very short Notice, only stayed one night. The Hotel location is convenient and the views are amazing. We had a sea facing room, with a sliding door to the ocean. Room was neat, clean and functional- not very modern. Wi-Fi wasn’t great, but worked most of the time. On the down side, seems that They have not adapted to the COVID challenges too well. The reception was not great, communication with person at the front desk was a challenge. Breakfast was included in rate, but we had to leave before they served Breakfast: breakfast was only at 9am. We had a really long ride and due to curfew, couldn’t wait. No alternative meal (or plan) was offered- we had a long drive and kind of relied on the Breakfast. Honestly feel that the Facility is great, sadly service not as good. …
I think it’s only fair to warn those looking at the website to see the truth of what this hotel is all about . Yes it’s cheap , but there’s a very good reason why . This place is in desperate need of repair . Fixtures not good , walls have water damage , little things like no tea spoons to stir the coffee you just made , no fridge to store the milk you had to buy . The plumbing echoing every time someone flushes or empties their bath . No light next to the bed , we were the only hotel without a working generator so when the lights went out , so did we . They could of warned us but they didn’t ( obviously ) . I will not be coming back here as there are so many much better options in wilderness .
family trip from cape town to gonubie eastern cape and this was our halfway stop, only stayed for 2 nights however the hotel has everything you need, the staff is super friendly and professional, the best part is the breakfast which by the way is fully halaal, and it is pretty affordable
Excellent location and friendly management and staff made our stay very memorable. Furniture and facilities are dated but rooms are kept clean and comfortable. The hotel manager is hands-on and he and his team did their best to accommodate all our needs. With some investment in new decor, wifi and other entertainment for kids, this hotel, with its central location in the Garden Route, will attract families and business travelers from across South Africa and the world.
Had a lovely stay at Wilderness Beach Hotel. Although the hotel is a bit dated, the rooms are efficiently cleaned on a daily basis. Johan and Sandra, the Hotel managers and their dedicated staff has done well to turn this hotel experience around compared to previous reports. The hotel may have some limitations in internet accessibilty and other modern facilities but the friendly accomadating staff and management did they best to ensure an enjoyable memorable stay. The breakfast may be basic but is adequately sustaining for a late lunch.
Spent 5 days @ Wilderness Beach Hotel. Excellent location - very good base to explore the South Cape and Garden Route. Breakfast is basic but sufficient variety for the hotel pricing. Hotel maintenance has improved compared to previous visits.
Perfect location however rooms has old look, old furniture, staff at hotel very unprofessional and unfriendly. A lot of tour operators make use of the hotel as a base so they get preference. What you see on the internet and when you arrive its chalk and cheese. The were no beach towels available for the 3 days we were there. Ran out. Hotel menu is very limited and pricy for what you get. They advertise the spa, when you arrive no spa. No games room for the kiddies, no entertainment when the weather is not good. TV channels very limited. No wifi in the rooms,at reception wifi limited and no internet connectivity.
To take an objective look, it has all the makings of a beautiful hotel! It has everything you you’d expect from a lovely beach hotel getaway. Here’s some constructive criticism: - cleanliness is a priority, the tiles are not being cleaned properly the result is greasy n gross. The pool needs hourly maintenance especially in high season! - redo the tennis court! - the tiling in the bathrooms are an eyesore! And the sanitary ware could use an update. - expand the menu at the restaurant, spruce it up with some modern dishes and desserts Otherwise the staff is very friendly and capable and the location is spectacular! This hotel can be great again!
Went to the Wilderness Beach Hotel for supper tonight. Their a la carte menu contained 4 items (was actually the room service menu). Ordered 'tempura' hake with salad and ribs and chips. Was served a piece of hake the size of my hand palm with a side salad. All this for R95. Ribs were so tuff and dry, could not cut throught it, with chips ala McDonalds style. This shocking poor plate of food for R145. If you want to have shocking food at shocking prices, Karos Hotel is the place for you.
