What an outstanding location, with great atmosphere and super staff. In walking distance of the beach you are in the heart of Wilderness village. The rooms could do with a little upgrade but have all the amenities need for a comfortable stay. The restaurant below of course, just fantastic!!!
We were warmly received by the restaurant staff - which was a bit confusing at first as there is no clear entrance to the accommodation. Food was great. Cell phone receptions was shockingly bad for a central location. Wi-Fi was non existent.
We booked 4 rooms over December. I was worried about this booking and pleasantly surprised when we walked into the rooms. Quick payment at the restaurant reception. They gave you the keypad codes to the rooms. Quick and easy. All rooms differently decorated. Spacious and everything you could need. Lovely feature was the big balconies where you could all congregate. Surprisingly, did not find it noisy at all once you closed the doors. Would stay again
While the room was comfy and nicely appointed with a great balcony, the ceiling fan wasn’t enough to thwart the January heat and humidity. With an air conditioner this place would have gotten full marks!
We spent 5 nights at The Old Post Office Lodge in Wilderness over the New Year and I strongly suggest that you keep your stay to 1 or 2 nights as the room was as noisy as the street below. We had pigeons making a nest on the corrugated metal patio roof with feeding started at 4am every morning which continued until about 6am. If it wasn’t the pigeon’s keeping us awake it was the rather rude and drunken party goes that walked the streets in the early hours of the morning. Strangely enough New Year’s Eve was the quietest night because it was raining. Breakfast is usually included in the price but not over the peak season. We are not quite sure why this is the case because the restaurant below was particularly quiet every morning. The entrance to the establishment is through…
