Good location, great views, saw dolphins, quality of breakfast was substandard to what we had experienced in other guesthouses from Sun City to Port Elizabeth to George. We feel we were overcharged for what we received. Sadly the noise from the main road behind was constant throughout the night and the rear windows clearly need soundproofing!! We would not stay in this property again.

My husband and I just spent three weeks at the Wilderness Beach Lodge, a hop, skip and a jump from the beach, with gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains. We felt at home as soon as we arrived. The lodge is a short walk to Wilderness Village Shops and Restaurants. I recommend Pomodoro (delicious pizza), The Blue Olive (amazing pasta), and Locals Pub (great place for a drink and amazing bbq ribs). Also, the owner makes a delicious breakfast, made with love. Also, most of the rooms have been completely renovated, they are beautiful. We will return!

This beach lodge is not beach front, but is on the second row of houses from the beach. The view from the balcony is lovely. The room we had was the largest, I believe it was number 6. However, the advertisement stated that this lodge was self catering. We only had a fridge and a sink in the room. The other down fall was that to get to our room on the end, we had to walk through a corridor that seperated the two other top floor rooms from the balcony. The two other rooms only have a glass door between them and the corridor (the glass doors were often left open by the guests so that they had access to the shared balcony), so it felt as though we were intruding on the other guests every time we had to get to our room. The other negative was that during the evenings, the other guests on the top floor all knew eachother and they kept their sliding glass doors open till all hours of the night to incorporate the corridor and balcony as additional living space. This meant that they were visiting in the corridor, which was right beside our room door. We were unable to get a decent night sleep while these guests were staying there. After these guests left, a young family with kids moved in. They kept their sliding glass doors open starting at 6am so that the kids could roam from the room to the balcony. Again, because our door was right next to the balcony and corridor, we were unable to sleep in as the kids were playing right outside our door. Another negative was the price. It was peak season while we were there, but it was very expensive compared to all the other places we stayed. Plus, I was bullied into paying for an extra day that we would not be staying there, as the host would not book us in for the 4 days we needed without paying for the 5th day that the room would be vacant. That left a bad taste in my mouth. The positives are the location to the beach and to the town. As well, the breakfast was great, the rooms were very clean, and the host was very helpful.

I was very disappointed in the way the Wilderness beach lodge treated us. We had booked two rooms for four people for one night while driving the Garden Route. On arrival however the owner told us she only had one room available for one person. Our booking clearly stated that we had booked two rooms so the mistake was hers even though she tried to blame it on us, even the confirmation she had and showed us said we were supposed to have two rooms. Finally she called the Cinnamon Boutique guest house and we went there to have a look. We liked it a lot and ended up staying there instead.

Great location, just across the road from the fantastic Wilderness Beach. However, adverts had mentioned a "kitchenette" which turned out to be a small fridge, a toaster a microwave and a kettle! We had to use the house's stove downstairs which was not awfully convenient considering all our food was in the fridges upstairs in our rooms... Also, the balcony was across a corridor which meant people staying in the adjoining rooms were walking between our balcony and rooms ( which were closed by a glass sliding door, albeit with a curtain). In addition, the place needs some minor renovations, the shower did not drain easily, and one of the fridges would not close properly. Rooms were not properly aerated and were quite stuffy without a fan.

What a disappointment this guesthouse turned out to be! Let me start with one or two good things: the bed was very comfortable and there are very good views of the sea and beach and we did get to see whales playing beyond the breakers.

Overall, the lodge signals lack of attention. My bathroom light was not working - to her credit, the manageress did get it sorted by the following morning. The room itself is dilapidated for the most part: the blind rotator was broken; cupboard doors don't fit properly; electric cables are badly fixed to the walls and dirty; wifi is very flaky especially on mobile devices; the lodge smells dusty. The rooms are poky. I cannot imagine how a family of four would cope in the accommodation.

On arrival, we were told that breakfast is not available during the off-season and we could find breakfast at one of the village restaurants - which is true. Other guesthouses in the area, though, were clearly offering breakfasts. There are no honesty bar type facilities in the guesthouse. Basically, we had to do for ourselves. I will not choose this place again. For not much more money, you can find much nicer in the area. I've been to some of these others before and received good attention and courteousness - even in the "off-season". The final strike came when we were departing the guesthouse. The manageress wasn't there to see us off and to ask whether we had had a good stay. These kinds of absences speak volumes.

the room we took was upper level and had a beautiful sea view. It was 100 m from the beach. The room was quite comfortable, but there are a few things that needed attention: bathroom goodies: not one of the hand lotion, shower gel or hand wash bottles worked properly. The cupboards to hang your clothes in were not very clean , inside, and the one light did not work in the bathroom. The tv did not work the whole time: so do not put a tv in the room if it does not work. The lodge is very well situated, I just think at the price charged, attention should be made to small things.

This Lodge is an absolutely great deal! We stayed there for two nights and had a very, very nice time.
The location is excellent, just 15 seconds from the beach. The indoor pool is very clean and the view is beautiful. The landlady, Dané, is a very nice woman and cooked a great breakfast for our family (2 adults, 4 children). She likes children very much and encouraged us to let them play, even when they were a bit noisy.
The rooms are clean and beautiful, as well with a nice view over the ocean.
Whenever we will stay again in Wilderness, I hope there will be rooms available. We felt at home!

I was in Wilderness in South Africa and stayed for a week with my wife in the Wilderness Beach Lodge. We had a very beautiful and clean room looking over The Indian Ocean. What an amazing view. You hear the rumble of the ocean day and night and that makes you sleep very very peacefully. Breakfast is even made to your request. If it isn't there, the next day it will be. We booked for five days, but stayed two more, just because of the good service. The Owner looks after you as if you were a good acquaintance, a good friend even. With moderate prices this is surely the place to stay in Wilderness.

Spent 7 weeks in Wilderness with my now wife last year and was so sad to leave... It's a great central location and a beautiful part of South Africa! The hosts were very welcoming and hospitable and everything we needed was right there. a couple steps and you are on the beach and a short walk and you are in the heart of town. The best breakfast I have ever been served! Traditional South African hospitality and delicious food! Two thumbs up!
