Detailed Reviews
We chose to stay here because my husband had been before - years ago and loved it. It was lovely and quiet with lots of bird songs. It was great to get away from the traffic and urban setting. The Stralitzia cottage we stayed in was very spacious and tastefully appointed with all the amenities needed. We had a very comfortable and pleasant night there and enjoyed being able to go to the beach close by after we arrived and again in the morning. Had a wonderful swim in the warm sea too. We'd highly recommend it.

Our stay at The Old Trading Post was the perfect little gettaway! If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing stay in nature with excellent personal service and pet friendly, then this is your place! We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 days where we were able to to explore the Wilderness, while still feeling like we weren't crowded by the holiday masses. The breakfasts were excellent too! The hosts even leant us their canoe so that we could go on an early morning paddle in the lake. We highly recommend The Old Trading Post and will return!

We stayed four days at the Old trading post, in the cottage and tin room. Very tranquil, spacious and clean. Mike and Renee were very friendly and helpful, and the area is great for hiking, watersports, beaches and horse riding. We had a little courtyard with BBQ, so could eat in or out. The cottage is well-equipped and there is a small swimming pool. Breakfast was very good as well. Only point of criticism is that the cottage courtyard is also the car park for the other guests, which means you look out at the cars and people come and go.
Strelizia cottage is quite big, and has a bunk bed . I would recommend renting the tin room adjacent to the cottage, for a bit more space for 4 people.

This stay was a real highlight, the hosts Mike and Renee (and their 4 legged friends) were so friendly and accommodating. We wish we'd have stayed longer than 1 night. They gave us excellent hiking and birdwatching recommendations, turned around some laundry, and we paid for dinner, which was a real highlight. Served in the main house, Renee cooked us a delicious lamb curry, dessert and a bottle of locally sourced wine. Beeakfast was equally delicious and very plentiful. We really enjoyed our time here. The room was furnished in a rustic comfortable style and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. The location is great for exploring the local areas' beautiful surroundings.

Thank you to Mike & Rene Raubenheimer for their kind hospitality. It was a an added bonus to chat over a delicious breakfast and learn about the history of the area. The room was cozy and clean and our furry family felt most welcome
We shall certainly come again and most definitely recommend The Old Trading Post to our friends and family.

We stayed at The Old Trading Post in December 2021 for 3 nights. It is set in a quiet street with a nice view when you sit on the porch of the main house. The service was great and the food is excellent! The hosts are very friendly and hospitable.

Thank you to the lovely people that run this lodge. Very amusing bush camps and tree-top rooms. I highly recommend a stay here if you are visiting Wilderness. They offer different types of accommodation and a variety of activities organised by the lodge and available in the area.

With a name like The Old Trading Post we surely did not expect a new place; the Old Trading Post is rustic, a little more rustic than we anticipated. The bathroom is bright and spacious, the bedroom smaller than expected. The double bed, well smaller than what is commonly found in guest houses and hotels. On the bright side, excellent breakfast and the best coffee. Pleasant hosts. Secure parking. Further from businesses than we thought it would be. Good value for money.

Traveling with 2 dogs and a cat is quite a challenge. Mike and Renee made sure that my stay was incredibly comfortable! They are exceptional hosts and the place is gorgeous. A very welcome bonus is the amazing pizzas that Renee makes!!
