Yes man, this place has a view for days! Unfortunately it end there. While enjoying the scenery; I was hit by a sewage smell that turned my gut. This was blowing up the valley directly onto the camping area. The other thing is that the bar draws some strange characters from below that didn't help with the vibe or turd smell.
not recommend this accommodation is almost run by volunteers. the volunteer staff from Belgium never feel responsibility to her job. she is well-educated by its owner. I called the owner, he hardly listened us, he spoke and hang up the phone without listening our claim. they never know the problem is not about money but their rude attitude.
Warning!!! I completely disappointed this accommodation. I never recommend. Owner, Rian, is sucks. He is crazy about money and no responsibility. He is so rude too. We noticed they never change bed sheets at all. Bar and restaurant are so noisy, I could not sleep all night. Bathroom and kitchen are so dirty and bad smell. Guests staffs enjoy Marijuana and Drugs. The quality of guests are bad.
Upon arrival the reception could not find our booking under our name. We were eventually booked into the room with an ensuite bathroom and then shortly afterward were told we had to move out because the room was reserved for someone else. The owner was not available on his phone. Eventually we cancelled the booking and went somewhere else.
I dont usualy write reviews but this was my favorite back packers that I stayed at along the garden route! Breathtaking views, clean lodging, amazing free day trips and most of all amazing people!!! My friend and I felt at home our first night and spent the next three days exploring waterfalls, beaches, forests, and an incredible cave in the surounding area, all trips led by Chris who is THE MAN and cooked two of the best meals I’ve ever had (braii and sea food). Just go, do it
This place is the loveliest farm that some how became a party hostel. You can still relax away from the madness in one of the many nice common areas though! This place accommodates many lifestyles, but my experience was I was able to do the coolest activities during the day for cheap followed by lively nights at their bar. MEET MY MAN CHRIS and go on his trips during the day they are the coolest he knows the area so well. In terms of facilities, it’s on a farm... be okay with getting dust of some stuff, but they keep the important stuff clean such as the bathrooms and beds. Oh and Chris is such a good chef, eat his meals if he’s cooking dinner. One of the best seafood meals, IN A BUFFET, I’ve ever had.
The view from the hostel is amazing and definitely the best thing about the place. There is quite a lively atmosphere when there a few people staying but it's pretty far from the town unless you have a car (and even then you need to be careful if you've got a rental). We stayed in a double room and it was quite dirty. Not sure if the linen had been changed because there was hair, stains and lots of pieces on it. Plus I found a few bed bugs on the bed which we managed to kill with some spray. Breakfast is pretty standard toast and jam with a few apples to pick from and the food you can order for dinner isn't bad. For the price its OK but couldn't say the place was clean.
We had a wonderful experience at Wild Farm. Surrounded by nature with an amazing view and happy people :) This place is perfect for relaxing and feeling connected to nature. Especially the adventurous hikes and delicious braais with Chris made our visit very enjoyable. He took us to beautiful waterfalls, went to the shop with us and then prepared a huge dinner for around 10 people. This service you can't find anywhere... We just felt very welcome! We would definitely recommend this to anyone :) Flo and Sela
The Wild Farm Backpackers is unlike any other backpackers I've ever been to. It is very homey and all the staff make you feel so welcome. The views are absolutely astonishing. Everywhere you look is beautiful with the most gorgeous views in that area. We checked in at the property with ease. The rooms are very very basic, but, it is a backpackers so that is expected. I liked the fact that you can get separate rooms if you do need some privacy, since normal backpackers don't usually offer that luxury. Oh, and be prepared to share a bathroom with all the other people staying there... I think the summary of my experience will be this: Amazing views! Great atmosphere, perfect for young people. Fully stocked bar, and you can also take your own drinks and sit around the huge fireplace. Bathrooms can be more tidy and neat. Breakfast is not up to standard (we could not even have a warm coffee with breakfast). Friendly and helpful staff. Very basic, but quite exceptional for a backpackers! I will definitely recommend Wild Farm for anyone looking for a backpackers/ overnight accommodation when on a hiking trip/ students looking to save money on their getaway.…
Love love love this place, amazing setting, scenery, been here a couple times and always had a pleasant experience, but unfortunately my last trip almost 2 years ago was dampened by the incompetence of the staff and the rudeness of the one particular manager, who threatened to kick me out based on a hiccup in the booking and shouted all kinds of nonsense and left me feeling rather disappointed and put a dampen on my stay. It's a shame because they could have an amazing thing going if it weren't for the slack service.
