Small and intimate house situated on the Touws River in Wilderness. Booking system is done electronically and works very efficiently. An immediate answer is given, as the establishment has only eleven tables. Parking is adequate at the house situated in a dead end. Pre dinner drinks are served on the balcony with a magical view at the water’s edge. The menu consists of five courses, each of three have two choices and the main course has three choices. The menu is explained in a bit of a rough edged manner with comments like “cool bananas “, which I found a bit out of place for the fine establishment. The wine selection is excellent and some very old wines are available, trust that they are still drinkable? You can bring your own with a corkage fee of R100 - not unreasonable for this type of establishment. The food is tastefully presented with the chef serving the portions. The texture is fantastic, using local ingredients and although five courses, there is plenty to fill one’s appetite and not leave you overfilled at the end of the evening. Expensive but worth it, great place.

We have been coming to Serendipity for about 15 years. In that time we have seen many improvements to the property and rooms and that trend has continued with personal touches. There are 4 rooms, all with a communal balcony that has tables, chairs and sunbeams. Very comfortable room with all amenities. All rooms have shower facilities. DSTV, free WiFi, fridge, tea/coffee, rusks, etc. Always a very nice breakfast with fruits, cooked breakfast, etc. Situated on the edge of the lagoon with canoes available for use. Secure parking. Walking access to Wilderness village and the lagoon boardwalks. Combined with Serendipity Restaurant this is an ideal location for a very enjoyable stay.

An unforgettable dinner experience, excellent service and lovely management. Location was really nice, next to the lake, however, you could hear the cars from the street across the lake - but not really disturbing. Family-run business and you feel it! We had great conversations and a great time in total! Thanks for that! Would love to come back!

Serendipity Guest House is always on our itinerary when travelling the Garden Route, sometimes for only a night but generally for 3 nights. Very comfortable rooms that open out onto shared balcony (4 rooms). Balcony has tables and chairs and sunbeds. Free Wifi, satellite TV, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities. Comfortable Kingsize bed, easy chairs and table. Bathroom has all amenities with plenty of hot water, shower and washbasin plus the usual soaps, creams, etc that one would expect. Bathrobes are available and there are towels specifically for the beach. Secure parking. Kayaks for use on the lagoon. Lovely location overlooking the lagoon. Short walk into the village where there is a petrol station, mini Supermarket, chemist, bistros and restaurants. Breakfast is beautifully prepared by Elsabe. Serendipity also has a restaurant of World Class fame. Good place to stop when travelling East or West along the Garden Route.

The couple of days we spent at Serendipity were wonderful. It's a pity we had such a short time. There is nothing that one could find any fault with. From incredible service and going out of there way to be helpful to the beautiful location and home and the quality of every other aspect of the stay, we would highly recommend staying at this location. You will not be disappointed!! Five star *****

We selected Serendipity because we read reviews about the restaurant (run by the daughter off the owner) which had very good reviews. We arrived @15.00 and were welcomed by the owner. Service stared only @ 16.00 which was a bit unfortunate given that the minibar was not stocked. For the rest it was a nice stay. The dinner was introduced by the husband of the Chef in a very nice way while enjoying a drink. The dinner itself was excellent (was expected), various courses with an African tone, paired with some delicious wines. After a good sleep, we had a proper breakfast before moving on to the next location.

Serendipity has a wonderful peaceful setting on the Wilderness lagoon, surrounded by a well established garden. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable and lead out onto a deck overlooking the lagoon - what a place for a sundowner ! Followed by superb food in the award winning restaurant downstairs ! I also had a most enjoyable paddle along the lagoon on one of the free canoes provided. Great place to stay.

A Wilderness Gem:
Tucked away down a quiet road in lush vegetation is the guesthouse of Elsabe who is Owner/Manager of Serendipity. Located along the banks of the Touw river and close to all amenities of Wilderness, this lovely well established guest house also has an award winning restaurant. Elsabe showed us to our upstairs ensuite room leading onto a deck overlooking the River. Tastefully decorated and equipped to ensure guests are very comfortable with aircon and ceiling fan, a bar fridge and tea station. A lovely outdoor patio overlooking the river, has comfortable furniture to enjoy drinks or morning coffee/tea with rusks . A beautifully presented English & Continental breakfast served each day by friendly staff. A most enjoyable 2 day stay to sample fine cuisine at Serendipity. (Mon-Saturday for prebooked dinners cooked by top executive chef Lizelle). Thanks Elsabe& Lizelle for all the added treats and our delicious Choc Torte celebration cake ! Best wishes Elizabeth & Terence Kelly .

Beautiful location and very unique style, was able to take a dip in the river in the morning. Owner was lovely and helped us with restaurants etc... The evening meal was very special explaining where everything came and what wine went with what. Food was exceptional. Highly recommend. (we got told by 2 couples we met on same evening to come here)!
