In the foothills of the southern Drakensberg nestles Castleburn a home to eland, reedbuck and 100 species of bird, who flock to the re-established wetlands.
Spacious, thatched, architect-designed cottages, built of hand-hewn local stone, cluster around Lake Madingofani. Its shimmering surface reflects the rocky summits of the Garden Castle and is disturbed only by the breeze and the occasional trout jumping.
The estate borders on a Natal Parks Board nature reserve, neighboring the uKhahlamba Drakensberg World Heritage Site proclaimed in year 2000 and the famous Giant's Cup hiking trail which passes
through it. For chilly Berg evenings, the private, luxuriously furnished cottages have a stone fireplace; there is also an impressively equipped kitchen. A convivial lakeside clubhouse encourages friendly get-togethers.
If you love peace and unpolluted air, bathing in crystal clear streams, fishing, riding, sailing, hiking, tennis, Archery, swimming.... You'll find the perfect holiday at Castleburn.
The resort has wholeownership, syndication, timeshare, and fractional ownership options available on a shareblock basis.
Castleburn is rated a Gold Crown resort by RCI.
The most wonderful time in the peace and quite of the berg. Service and staff were brilliant. I cant recommend Castleburn enough. We will definitely be back. Clement was a gem and nothing was too much trouble for him.
This is a very enjoyable place to get away from the busy city and enjoy some quiet time with family. The 4 bedroom chalet is spacious, well kept, clean, neat with modern conveniences that doesn't make you miss home. There are plenty of activities to keep the entire family busy but also allows space for you to enjoy a quiet getaway
We love going to Castleburn every year. The accommodation is well kept, clean and meets our needs. The location is lovely and private. Always have lovely walks and visits to the surrounding areas. Highly recommended
We were literally driving around the area and stopping wherever the urge took us. Happened to find out the did miniature golf so we popped in. Loved the place and all that is available to do. Horse riding, fishing, golf etc etc the list goes on.
Absolutely beautiful, the windows in the rooms are large so you can view the mountains whilst lying in bed. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The unit is a little small for what we are used to but it was still comfortable and neat. There is plenty to do on the property, we enjoyed the Kayaking the most!
Castleburn is positioned in one of the most picturesque parts of the Drakensberg. The layout of accommodation between all the dams is so beautiful and all of the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. I look forward to returning in the near future!
Had a good overall stay. However the mattresses needs to be changed. I enjoyed fly-fishing and the walks along the river as well as up the hill tops. The big dam is a real gem with all the available activities.
The pictures on the internet don't really do justice to how exquisite the Castleburn resort is. Our unit had all we needed and more, the staff were all super friendly and helpful and the restaurant has a wide range of great food. With the mountain, so many lakes in the resort, clean air and the crystal clear Mzimkhulu river, this was an exceptional holiday!
Well appointed cottages with comfy beds! Lovely, peaceful surrounds with gorgeous walking trails and the absolute best sunsets during the winter months. Lots for kiddies to do with their holiday program. If it is rest and relaxation you are after, then you cannot go wrong with Castleburn.
Great place to have some family fun activities and bond. Lots of outdoors activities for adults and children alike. We enjoyed the boat rides on the calm lake, kayaking, mountain-biking, mini-golf and tennis.
