Very nice B&B, close to Underberg and thus the Sanipass. Stunning views of the Drakensbergen. Room and bathroom are great value for money and very clean. Next door is a sort of restaurant where you can have lunch. The housekeeping lady was very kind to us and cooked a "feel like home" dinner for us which was very nice after 3 weeks of restaurant food.

Stayed 2 nights in one of the chalet bungalows. A lovely rural setting, quiet bar birdlife.
Very spacious, clean room and bathroom a 50m stroll to the farmhouse where breakfast and evening meal (if you want) is served. We dined in to fried chicken, potatoes, beans and carrots cooked with a smile and tasty after a day’s tour to Lesotho.
If you need some quiet space, this is the place.

Nice and quiet stay at this guesthouse. Big rooms with a terrace. Two ladies who gave us a very warm welcome. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. We used the laundry service: quick and fair price, very well done. We would come back. Thanks for everything!

We arrived late in the evening after dropping of a team participating at Sani2C. Our room, although large and spacious was infested with large mosquitos. The entire perimeter of the ceiling was covered in them. Lindiwe, the most helpful house lady / manager / cook / cleaner / all round star who was also the only person that we interacted with did her best to give us the only spray she had, which was a near empty bottle of a lemon citronella herbal mist that was useless against over 100 mosquitos. Needless to say despite a comfy bed, didnt get much sleep with the pests. Bathroom was clean but towels could be washed better.

We made a bit of a last-minute booking and ended up at Elgin. We were welcomed some 30 mins later in a beautiful setting with views of the mountains and the dairy farm. The complimentary sherry was an added bonus.

The only thing that could've been improved was some more involvement from the owners. We did see the owner shortly, but are kind of accustomed to them at least coming to check in the next morning during breakfast, which they didn't.

Other than that, it's definitely recommendable!

There's really nothing we disliked at Elgin. We loved the friendly staff and helpful manager. We got there very late around midnight and they had complimentary sherry for us and a warm room. The breakfast was good. The views as well. It was a welcomed quiet break from the city.

Elgin is a little piece of heaven, the rooms are very comfortable and were wonderfully heated for the chilly winter's evening. This is a working farm and even though they were busy with daily farming activities and calving, they kindly went out of their way to show the children around and show then the newly born calves etc. Breakfast was also delicious and we would definitely go back given the opportunity.

If you are looking for a truely relaxing weekend, Elgin Farm is the place to go. Very comfortable accommodation from the electrical blankets, heated flooring, spa bath, fire places to the excellent breakfast. We had dinner at a different restaurant in the area, selected from a list of recommendation provided by the owners, and had a good meal every night. Our days were spend by taking long scenic walks, visit the dairy on the farm or the Cheesary across the street. We were well rested and relaxed when we returned to the Rat Race on Sunday afternoon.

Elgin is a working farm plus B&B. It is located in a beautiful region and is a good place from which to explore the surrounding mountains and Sani Pass. The rooms are clean and well kept. The only problem was the tv in our room did not work, but other than that, the stay went without any problems. Breakfast is provided and the guest can choose to eat in the dining room (a small room which can be a bit cramped if there are more than 8 guests) or eat outdoors. In the morning, my city kids had great fun seeing the cows go out to pasture. The place is kids-friendly, with a trampouline and swing.

Elgin Farm is certainly one of the best kept secrets when visiting the Drakensberg. The drive up to Underberg is spectacular - great if you love driving. The guesthouse itself is situated on a working diary farm and they invite you to visit the milking that happens every afternoon. The accommodation is comfortable, location is spectacular and the rates are very reasonable. A perfect place for short stay with the family and kids.
