We stayed at the Cabana Beach Hotel during Dec 2019. It was as usual , a pleasant stay and we enjoyed our stay very much. It is a Self Catering accommodation but offers a complete equipped kitchen. They also offer daily cleaning Services and supply Beach towels.
The beach is less than 50 steps from our room and good Restaurants are located in the Village very easy to walk as well.

Super venue even with the Eskom load shedding Most relaxing and carefree week. The friendly helpful staff is the most valuable assets of the Cabanas. The general surroundings garden and walkways of the hotel is super neat which leaves the sincere impression that the management truly care for the well been of the visitors.

Felt very relaxed, room cleaned every day. Great location. Changed rooms cause of safety for my toddler who was climbing the banisters in the room we originally were in, staff were very accommodating. My husband had to work on the one day, staff allowed him to use the boardroom so he could have silence whilst on a call. Very accommodating.

The hotel & rooms could be considered a bit tired and due for a refurbishment but the staffs attitude is excellent and more than make up for the buildings shortcomings. The underground garage is a bit dark and menacing and watch the very low walls.........difficult to see. It is short on eating establishments, there is one mediocre Wimpy that shuts very early especially for a Holiday Resort and I was told it was a staff issue ?? The new restaurant the Belazar is extremely disappointing. It has a great position but is let down by the food and staff..........straight out of Fawlty Towers, fingers in the wine glasses, wrong drinks being served and quite honestly the staff seem not to have been trained at all, well not in the restaurant business. The music some times is so loud you cannot hold a conversation and the seating is very strange, very limited amount of tables for couples as mainly large tables straight out of a German beer garden. If it rains it does present a problem as there is limited seating under cover. I am quite amazed how the hotel management approved this restaurant.

What a amazing holiday we had at Cabana beach resort, my first time being here and we are leaving this place with great memories and excitement for next year and the years to come.I don't regret getting time shares at this resort . This is my first time being here and my wife second time,i had to see what this place was all about.
We took the 6 sleeper apartment 416(2 bed rooms, one sleeper couch) and it was a pleasant apartment with beautiful view of the ocean,The Apartment got cleaned daily, we came back to a clean place with non of our items missing and just want to thank the cleaning staff for this. We also feld very safe and secure at the resort .
The pool area is such great place to be at, pool is always clean and the best of all to get services from the on site wimpy.
Entertainment at this place is wonderful they always have some competition with activities, the entertainment team you all are great and i could really see you all enjoy what you are doing. My wife and I feld so welcome and happy. Massive thanks to Iain, Kai and the rest of the team on our stay(Week 20 2021) your work is much appreciated.
I would also like to say the Live show at Cabana beach resort on the 17th May the Stargaze show by Andrew Weber what amazing show his live music was in my opinion beter then some celebrities i went to go listen live at concerts in the past hopefully you will be back next year and with a cd we can purchase.
Gardens are also very well maintain and very well looked after,great job on this.

We stayed in a 4 sleeper unit on the 3rd floor. The unit was very well equipped neat and clean. The check in process was quick and efficient with porters waiting on hand to haul the luggage. Great secure under cover parking for an extra charge per day. All Covid protocols in place with sanitizers everywhere. Magnificent views and beautiful gardens with lots of photo opportunities and many beach chairs everywhere. It is a very large resort so be prepared to walk. 2 lovely pools and a nice spacious deck to relax and view the ocean. Towels and umbrellas are provided for the beach - what a bonus. Restaurants on site and service by the pool. Tennis courts were available too but not so nice that you have to pay 50c per minute to keep the tennis court lights on at night. It felt very safe and relaxed and the service and staff are exemplary. Any call to housekeeping is responded to instantly. Unfortunately the floor above us made lots of noise late at night and one phone call to reception and they promptly rectified the matter. Brilliant world class beach and promenade in front of the complex and many shops and eateries within walking distance. I think it is off peak season so we virtually had the resort to ourselves. There was maintenance work happening but we were advised up front and it was not intrusive. Fast high speed uncapped free internet was appreciated. Overall I can't wait to be back again especially during off peak season as I imagine it may be very popular and overcrowded during peak summer seasons. Thank you for a relaxing 2 weeks with no real reason to leave the resort premises!

Great resort with great entertainment. The housekeeping department did not match the level I would expect. On Thursday my wife walked into the room (703) while the ladies were cleaning and one named Dudu had not seen her come in. She walked in on a conversation where Dudu was saying “let Friday come so that they can leave”. We were deeply offended especially coming from a housekeeper in a hospitality setting. Added to that the cleaning was not up to resort standards. The toilets clearly were not touched during our stay and everyday it seemed no sweeping was done in the lounge. My daughter fell ill one night and threw up in the toilet, she caused a stain on the basin and as you can see from the picture attached that stain was never cleaned. Great facilities marred by poor hospitality. I was also not pleased while having a meal with my family in Wimpy. The kids went to swim and the security came to our table and told us to get our children out of the pool without even asking if we were residents. I believe better training on how to handle guests should be given to the security personnel.

This is certainly not the level of service nor standard you should expect from any of our team. As our pool area does not have a dedicated lifeguard, we do not allow children to swim unsupervised and security would request children the exit the pool. We must apologise if this was not communicated correctly or in a correct manner. This is merely done to avoid tragic incidents as you can imagine. We wait all year for our annual beach vacation, and this year we were extremely disappointed. The aircons at Cabana Beach don’t work at all and the staff don’t seem to care. We had experienced some of the highest temperatures this January and the resort ensured that we had sleepless nights struggling with the heat after having paid a HEFTY price for the week. Will definitely not be coming back for the crappy service here.

Growing up, this resort use to be the best resort in Umhlanga. It is now overshadowed by the new ultra modern hotels in the area. My wife and I were feeling nostalgic so we managed to purchase someones timeshare period. It must be noted that his hotel is now purely a timeshare hotel and in order to stay here you will need to putchase or rent someone's timeshare within the resort.
Due to the aforesaid timeshare nature of the resort, one would say that the resorts income is guaranteed and as such the service has become putrid.
The state of the rooms are appalling.
Rooms are not cleaned properly. The sheets were dirty. The kitchen stove was half broken. The toaster was broken and some dishes were filthy. The oven and oven tray was is a disgusting state.
The bathrooms were ok but dated.
The rooms are extremely dated, including the TVs and entertainment.
Soaps, tea and coffee are not replenished on a daily basis.
The gardens are still beautiful but the pool areas are dated.
It is quite sad that my fond childhood memories of this hotel will now be raplaced with the aforesaid experience.
The management of this hotel needs some serious attention. Its as if it's managed by an old man who refuses to move with the times.
If you are a person who values customer service, cleanliness and modern amenities then I strongly advise that you not stay here.
There are plenty of alternative options within the area.

Dear mohamedaG3062BN Thank you for taking the time to share your comments, thoughts and experience with us and for your review. At the onset please do accept my apologies for not meeting your expectations and for the issues and frustrations experienced. This is not in keeping with the standards and levels of service and offerings that we are striving to achieve and maintain. Much work has been done at the resort over the past three years and I do hope you got to see these changes, including the newly refurbished public areas and reception, duckpond, walkway down to the swimming pools, deck at the adult pool as well as the tiling around the family pool, amongst many other changes that have happened and are currently happening. We are sad to hear that the resort has not maintained the fast pace of change and additions to the Umhlanga area but are glad to be able to report that many of the challenges you mention are already in hand to be resolved soonest. We are currently in the process of upgrade the WIFI, TV system setup to a digital installation as well as new phone infrastructure in the rooms. The rooms are planned for major refurbishment next year – this is a complete make over of the rooms – a mock up room has been completed. The standard, cleanliness and condition of the room and kitchen including equipment is not negotiable and this should always be of a more than acceptable standard – this I will address with my Housekeeping and Maintenance Managed to resolve immediately and to ensure this is always in order as required – there are checks and balances in place to prevent any shortfalls that seem to have not been effective on this occasion. We do hope that you will return to us again in the future – perhaps when more of our refurbishments are complete and we look forward to restoring your memories of the resort.
