The team make you feel welcome. Breakfast is served promptly while you enjoy the beautiful view of the sea or sitting by the pool. The rooms and living area is tastefully modern furnished and more importantly, practical. I love the setting.

I had a wonderful 2 nights stay here while in Durban for work. It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere that allows you to unwind, and was the best 2 nights sleep I have had in weeks.
The breakfast is also amazing! My first morning there I was surprised with a breakfast burger, which tastes even better than it sounds!
Maria and her staff are also incredibly welcoming and helpful, and their personal touches and friendly manor helps round off a great stay.
This will definitely be my preferred accommodation when in Durban in future.

My wife and I had a brilliant 3 night stay at the Lavender Moon guest house. The owner, Claire, really cares about her guests and makes them feel special. The guest house is modern and finished to a very high standard. There is also a pool and sun lounger area which has sun from early morning to around 4.45pm (in February). The house is located almost equidistant between the beach / the majority of good restaurants and the Gateway shopping centre, so it has the best of both worlds. In addition, breakfasts are a real delight. I cannot recommend the Lavender Moon highly enough.

I stayed here just before the Comrades Marathon. Claire was an amazing host and ensured that our stay was top notch. Nothing is too much trouble for Claire. The rooms were clean, comfortable and first class. The food was amazing and the feel of the accommodation was very relaxing. On my departure Claire had prepared a pack for after the race that was full of thoughtful gifts accompanied by motivational quotes and pictures. It would have been very time consuming to put together and I was very humbled by this act of kindness. I'll be back for certain, you won't get a better experience than this. Outstanding.

I am a UK citizen and been working in SA for the past 6 months, stayed in many guesthouses, B&B's and hotels in Jozi and Durban. I have to say that this, by far is the best place I have stayed. We arrived on Tuesday afternoon after an 18 hour total travel time from Glasgow and we were welcomed by Claire(the host). She made sure that everything was in order, helped us with our bags. The rooms are lovely and spacious and nicely decorated, Air Con works great and the bathrooms are clean.
Next morning, when we had breakfast, I had mentioned that the internet had switched off the night before and Claire advised that she was on PAYG until her Fibre was installed and not to worry about it and use it to our hearts content. This was very reassuring as we had travelled from the UK, we had to use Skype to call back home.
The breakfast is freshly cooked every morning with a great choice and cannot be faulted. They even made a special breakfast for my 2 year old daughter.
The location is great, safe and secure, close to both Gateway Mall and Umhlanga Village which has many many restaurants.
I had read her reviews before booking the accommodation and thought it must be her friends and family writing these reviews as they were so positive but after staying there I can see why.
Keep up the great work Claire, you are an ambassador for Umhlanga and South Africans everywhere!!!

This is terrible, I thought I had responded to your review Shahid. I can even remember some of my response, but see here it is not... But thank you for the lovely review!! We all loved having you and your family here and I was sorry I couldn't accommodate you longer. I hope you have met other wonderful South Africans during your stay. Our wifi is all up[ and running and is much better now, thank goodness. :) We hope next time you need a place to stay here in Umhlanga you come here again.

Claire and her team are exceptional. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. We felt at home from the time we arrived and I was made to feel very special on my birthday. The breakfast was unique and we even requested the same on our second morning. The guest house is in a wonderful location and is so convenient for the airport, the beach, restaurants and for the ladies...shopping! Any visit to Natal will have to start and end at Lavender Moon for us as we fly up from the Cape.

Thank you Heather, I am glad we could make you feel even half as special as you are. It was wonderful having you and your husband here, and wait to see the photos of the breakfast when you try it :) We all look forward to welcoming you back here.

I can't recommend this B&B highly enough. Maria is a charming and attentive hostess. The rooms are well appointed and spotless. The breakfasts are varied and delicious. It is no wonder this establishment has so many regular customers. She went out of her way to offer us a sea-facing room and the service here cannot be faulted. Sorry Maria, it's taken me so long to write this review. We are very happy back in Durban. We got off to a very good start by staying with you.

I have stayed at 'a Viletta a few times in 2015 on my frequent visits to Umhlanga/Durban. The rooms are very comfortable (with large beds). The house and car park is secure. The breakfast is good and there are many lunch/dinner options in the Umhlanga Rocks area (5 minutes). I can highly recommend 'a Viletta for a stay in Umhlanga/Durban.
