Excellent in every aspect Clean & situated near the village. Shuttle available . 3 restaurants to choose from. Staff are excellent. We go back every year Children's entertainment at the family pool . The absolute perfect Hotel for a great holiday or weekend etc
4-star but like a 5-star, clean, professional, spacious, friendly, on the beach, beautiful, good maintenance, top management, superb sunrise photo location, great sundowners looking at the sea, so much to do nearby... My new favourite holiday getaway right in my own town!
Absolutely breathtaking views. It's in the midst of winter but heated pools were fun for kids. Had a fab time. You don't need to go to Overseas to have a holiday when we have the most pristine resorts in Umhlanga . 5 stars a definite
This has been my third stay at Umhlanga Sands in the space of two years, nothing to complain about the room and service received, all 5 stars, my complaint is about the pool area. On my previous two visits, food was allowed by the pool, this time they said no food allowed in by the pool and no restaurants cater for halaal. Having small kids with us, I found this to be very inconvenient as what must my children eat when they are swimming and hungry. Secondly, previously, Fikile was the entertainment manager and really the pool area and entertainment was so much fun. Now Don plays one song less than 30 seconds with the kids to dance, has the most boring bingo vibe and hardest questions for the quiz. Not forgetting the music playing was so uninspiring and unentertaining. For a day to relax by the pool, it was boring and not as fun as it used to be.…
Wonderful staff! Excellent entertainment crew (Hamilton) with bubbly personalities keeping all guests active the whole day. The live band that performed on the 22nd February 2022 (Too Unique) was absolutely amazing! The weekly program presented was fun and everyone enjoyed the interaction. I won a hair treatment voucher with one of the activities. Unfortunately the hair salon staff did not share my excitement. The staff is not talkative or engaging at all. No product information or normal customer service was disclosed and delivered. Otherwise amazing Umhlanga Sands!
I want to say a BIG thank u to the resort staff!!! I booked for my son & wife's 1 year anniversary and informed the staff, requesting some special touches. The want above and beyond!! Amazing memories ❤ thank u so very much!!
I normally book a sat to sat week with my timeshare but opted for a midweek at the sands resort. Still a top class premium holiday. The 4 sleepers are small especially the toilet and bath together Please note bigger sized people will struggle in the loo. Knocked my head on the toilet holder many times above my head. Resort well maintained and great entertainment. Lots of food outlets good vibe. The sands is semi catering has a micro, fridge, toaster and kettle very basic. Beautiful views from 14th floor.
No halaal restaurants on the hotel premises. Also if you have your own halaal food is a MAJOR PROBLEM... it is some how very racist. After being many years to this resort it has always been a great resort but recently things have been changing for the worst... If you don't buy from there restaurants which is not halaal you not allowed to bring your own food to the pool which is halaal. The management says sorry thats the rule nothing much can be done about it... It wouldn't have been an issue if there were halaal places around.. Honestly to me it is being racist...
Disgusting service when it comes to parking, they allow people that don’t stay at the resort to park and when residents need to park and go to their rooms, the supervisor answer to where must a resident park now was:”don’t make a big deal of it, the Peking is not allocated to residents only!” So residents must make a plan to park their cars as the pay and park area is always full! The attitude of the people are as if u owe them something! Really bad service all round!
The only redeeming quality is the view. There’s a lack of social distancing. Have to pay to sit at most places in the hotel. Unless you go to the pool & then you can’t relax because of the bingo / children programs etc. going on the loudspeakers all day. Also was very nervous at the lack of social distancing (sigh) . Not worth the price at all
