I love The Beverly Hills. Magnificent views and friendly staff. Today I had two superb spa treatment. My therapist Sindy was constantly checking on my comfort in my treatments and the pressure of her massage. The backdrop is something special. There is a private gazebo area with plenty of ventilation or treatments on done on the deck chairs with the magical sound of the ocean which lulled me into complete relaxation. The warm sun on me, gentle breeze from the sea and an excellent therapist. Sheer magic. In covid times this is such an ideal venue for spa treatments. Thank you Beverly Hills, I can't wait to come back.

Magnificent location & views. Service was 5 star & the staff were excellent. But that is where the 5 star rating ends. The hotel is badly dated & in need of a massive overhaul. The minuscule bathrooms are completely inadequate with regards to size & fittings. A shower within the bath and one basin is not acceptable for a 5 star establishment. You can only fit one person at a time in this space. This hotel is riding on its status from many decades ago but has not stayed relevant.

On Wednesday evening ( 16 June 2021) I had dinner with a family member on the terrace. We were shown to a table to be seated. However, we moved tables after noticing food on the floor around the table that had not been cleaned up. We ordered on on receiving our order, opened our cutlery which was wrapped in a serviette. The one knife , although it had been wrapped, was filthy. In Covid times , or in fact any time, this is unacceptable. The manager apologised but this is disgraceful .

My partner and I were in Durban for a wedding and decided to stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel. I grew up in Durban but had moved away many years ago so perhaps I had a different vision of what it was like. On the positive side the staff are extremely helpful and generally good and thoughtful. The staff in the restaurant especially were so kind and on top off things. The views and location are also phenomenal - it was great to wake up to a sea view and to be able to go downstairs and walk along the promenade. You just can’t beat that. What I was a bit disappointing about is how dated the hotel is looking now. It really seems like a revamp of reception and passage areas are needed. To me all of the little detail does not make it quite a 5 star. In Durban however when it comes to hotels (5 star especially) there isn’t much choice so you would not be upset if you end up at Beverly Hills but I think they should look into an upgrade!
