Allowed harassment, management and security inadequate. It can be fixed with better management. A guest stripped naked in front of everyone and brought guns onto the premise with no consequences or even a warning.

Forget that super fancy, very expensive hotel next door. You know the one. Stay here instead. The Beverly Hills is fantastic, and the location can’t be beat. We could walk to restaurants and feel very safe. The boardwalk / beachfront was connected to the hotel property (with a security guard offering cold water upon our return). There’s free parking on site, and the pool area, with shaded lounge chairs, is upscale and relaxing. The breakfast options were so ample and varied that it took us several walk-throughs just to determine what we should have (or where we should start!). The room was very pleasant, with robes, nice linens, and a convenient patio with table and chairs for comfortable ocean and people watching. We also had a perfect view of the gorgeous lighthouse. We really couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience, and the Beverly Hills gave us everything we wanted or needed at a much more reasonable rate than the Oyster place next door. After booking the hotel I heard that this hotel had gone downhill since Covid. Well, on arrival the reception was absolutely lovely, and we were offered a glass of sparkling wine while we checked in. Our rooms were a very good size and well decorated. There was some (pleasant) some noise from the waves on the beach literally just outside our rooms as the patio doors didn’t seal that well. As we checked in we were told that the pool and gardens were closed as the were renovating it (which was evidently happening- we could see it in progress), however they offered to take us to a sister hotel which we took them up on. They took us in a car to the hotel which was less than 5 minutes walk away and said they would come and collect us (we chose to walk back along the promenade as it was so close). The breakfast selection, both buffet and hot, were amazing, with a lovely view out to sea. When we checked in we were told that the restaurant downstairs had a Wednesday Curry night, but then got a call saying it was closing early, and the main restaurant didn’t appear to have much atmosphere, so we did not have a dinner at the hotel, but there are many good restaurants Less than 5 minutes walk away. We did however have coffees in the lounge, and the service was very good. Overall we would definitely recommend this hotel, and it appears that if the have not invested over the last couple of years they are now.…

As one of the most iconic hotels in Durban, I had high expectations for my first stay and I am sad to say that the room left is sorely disappointed. Sliding doors are old and very difficult to move. Carpets are dated and in need of a change. Furniture such as the desk was ratty looking and had an overall shabby, outdated look. Bathrooms are outdated and our shower kept flooding after each use. Don’t let anyone tell you that this is the ‘charm’ of the hotel, that’s not acceptable for poorly maintained and outdated fittings and furnishings. The saving grace of the Beverly Hills Hotel Umhlanga are the staff, who are absolutely remarkable in their willingness to go the extra mile for their guests. Lerato was the manager on duty when our bathroom flooded, and he assessed the situation, when it did not resolve, he then promptly moved us to another room. Although this was an equally disappointing room, the bathroom was functional and at this point, it was all we could ask for. He then called to check that all was ok with us in the new room. Thank you for you great hospitality Lerato. Our breakfast was superb with the manager Lawrence ensuring the breakfast service went off without a hitch and was determined to get the best service out of his staff. There were many other staff I encountered and was not able to get all their names but they all were exceptional. Upon checkout, we got to our vehicle to find it washed, which was another lovely touch emphasizing how hard the staff work. For this reason alone, the staff, I have not rated this hotel as a 1 star. Urgent revamp is called for ASAP, the accommodation is not worth the price point at all!…

Arriving after a 12 hour flight, we were greeted with cool face towels and refreshing iced tea. We'd arrived early, but our rooms were quickly ready, and we could then enjoy lunch on the patio with excellent service from Penolin. The reception area is quite spectacular and there is a calm, elegance about the hotel. The breakfast offer was incredible, beautifully presented, so much choice and delicious. Every member of staff was friendly and welcoming. It felt as though the whole team was committed to making each guest feel valued. The service was attentive without being overbearing. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

We spent our 50th Wedding Anniversary at the Beverley Hills Hotel at the beginning of April. We were very spoilt by them on arrival, with some lovely touches to remember our special day. The staff were are attentive and nothing too much trouble. Perfect location with the pool and gardens overlooking the beach and lighthouse. My only surprise was the size of the room and one of the smallest bathrooms I have been in, for a 5 star hotel, I did not expect to have to climb in the bath to take a shower. But that said we had a memorable time.

A beautiful resort set in the heart of Umhlanga, surrounded by vibrant restaurants and malls within a walking distance. The hotel has breathtaking views, mouthwatering breakfasts, and a lovely team to take care of every need. Fresh fruit skewers are served at 12h00 and ice cream at 2pm... Sublime cocktails and scrumptious toasted sandwiches are favorites served all day. Please consider designating certain areas (maybe in front of the spa, as an adults only zone). Massages & screaming kids don't compliment each other. An adult only floor would be appreciated too... Single people prefer not to wake up to noisy kids that don't belong to us. Will be back soon, hopefully to an adults only zone😉

Superb hotel in wonderful location. Stayed there for three nights in March and were so impressed that we rebooked a further three nights. Very friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us. Fantastic facilities with pool leading directly to a lovely walk and beach.

Always friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast. Great, great spa at reasonable prices. Amazing poolside service with deck chairs, umbrellas and even sunblock. Lovely dinner. Normal rooms much bigger than other hotels nearby. Very neat.
