Ive stayed at this hotel on many previous occasions, and i have to say that my recent experience was not a pleasant one to say the least, the first room had an airconditioner/heater that that woke us up, by banging non stop at around 12:40am in the morning, seemed like someone was trying to break the door down, after the reception and technicians tried to sort this out over two days, with no success, they changed my room, after carting all our belongings, and settling in, we found out that there was no hot water in the bathroom(cold shower was the order of the morning)not pleasant(the temp in Durban was 11 deg C, they then decided to upgrade me, and sent me down the hall with all my luggage once again, to the other end of the building, only to find that this room had no bed in it, back to reception, got another room ,on another floor, moved our luggage once again, and slept with no aircon/heater working for our final night, i really hope that this hotel can start to maintain the standards they previously had, sad to say, things have really deteriorated, this was not the type of weekend away, we were hoping for.…
The stay was pleasant, staff friendly, location good, breakfast good, room furnishings was old and dated, carpet needs deep clean and should be vacuumed after each guest departs, linen was clean, fridge did not work.
Room was not entirely clean there was an absolutely dirty door card still in the card slot when we entered the room. It was oily and just appalling. Regards to Covid protocols when we arrived our room was not locked it was just closed with the lock from the inside jammed between the door keeping it opened, the bed and pillows were the worst i have ever slept in. Bed springs seemed broken on the 1 side.
The staff was amazing and the rooms were clean. We hope they add more things like fridges, microwave and a heater because the room was cold, other than that it's a great place for people or a person who just want to chill or spend more time with their partners.
The hotel is very conveniently situated at the Gateway Shopping centre. It's close to all the night life and shirt drive to the beach. Was a little dissapointed with the room. The bed wasn't comfortable, we couldn't get the aircon to work, the TV picture was fuzzy and we couldn't get wifi in our room. They said they'd look into the wifi problem but no one followed up with us.
