I had a reasonably good stay at the Garden Court Hotel in Umhlanga. the room comfortable and the food was delicious, especially the Mac and Cheese and the spiced chicken wings. Only criticisms were the pillows being all hard and the TV channels that were very limited.

Have stayed here on a couple of occasions and it’s perfectly fine. Staff are friendly, rooms are clean & it’s well maintained. The breakfast is ok & the bar is also ok. There are often cos I loads, literally coach loads, of visitors. It’s fine just very unremarkable.

We stayed for a night in October, we had an early flight to catch the next morning. The hotel is in a great location, it is close to everything but away from the noise. Check in was fast and efficient. We got a great deal on a suite, which was on the top floor and had a great view. The room was large and clean. The breakfast, while busy was always full and had a large selection. All the staff we came across were friendly and helpful.

The location is good within the Gateway precinct, which is convenient. Rooms are standard for the type of hotel. When fully occupied during high season it can be quite noisy. Staff and service are average. Nothing above the minimum one would expect.

We have stayed here about 6 times over the last couple of years and on the last two occasions, the faculty has not lived up to expectations. The service to the room, we had to remind them several times that there was four of us and we therefore needed four towels. There is a water saving message in the bathroom, but after we had no hot water in the shower, the maintenance guys said we need to run the hot water in the basin, bath and shower at the same time to get hot water to the shower - bizarre. The Aircon worked intermittently, last night it was so hot that the chocolates that we bought melted. It was that or ice cold. Then the last was the dirty swimming pool, that stank. It was so bad that the smell dried into my swimming trunks. There is no supervision of guests at the pool which made it unpleasant with unruly children and no social distancing to talk of. I don't think we will be back. We came here to this more expensive facility for the breakfast and heated pool, it wasn't worth it

Clean, friendly staff, convenient location. Close to Gateway. But.. 1. Family room is too small. Just good enough to go sleep in there. Can't really spend time in the room if you not in there to sleep. 2. Photos on website don't do justice to the place. It's much smaller then what it's perceived to look like. Pool is tiny. They say pool closes at 7pm but it's so dark after 6pm that you can't use it. Only good thing about the pool is that it's heated. 3. Breakfast doesnt live up to the hype. Compared to other tsogo sun hotels in the area this place had the most limited options available. No cheese at all. Coffee was probably the worst I've had. They only had instant coffee available. 4. Parking is limited. You will be lucky to find a spot if you go spend the evening out and come back by 10pm hoping to find a parking spot. 5. No sauna, no steam baths, no other activities at the hotel besides the pool - which is only good enough for kids! You can see that they trying to save on costs.. but unfortunately they have lost me as a customer.

Booking a town hotel when coming to the beach isn’t our normal routine. We were pleasantly surprised firstly by the comfort of our room but mostly by the friendliness of the staff and willingness to assist. Some of the usual hotel services have been removed or considerably restricted with the Covid protocols- they have managed well albeit they could probably do with more staff. The time taken was slow but it’s due to the increase paperwork etc. that needs to be completed. We have had an excellent trip. Thank you
