We were skeptical to go on this holiday during beach closures (all SA beaches were closed five days prior to our booked dates). We are so happy that we went anyway. We felt safe with all the Covid protocols in place. The owners recommended places to visit in line with our interests (check out FLAG Animal Farm). Cleanliness (inside and out) is to be commended. Our car got rinsed every single morning. Ground staff extremely friendly and go out of their way to help. Owners are on site and make you feel so welcome. The breakfast was fantastic quality. We could swim any time we want (unlike at big hotels where you can't swim after 6pm). Walking distance to the beach (even though we could not go there) - our ten year old easily managed the walks. I hope to be able to visit Flamingo Lodge in the near future when beaches are open again.

The rooms are quaint. Small by North American standards but plenty spacious for what is required and about the right size for the rest of the world. We travelled in September of 2019 and the weather was just switching from winter to spring but it was still quite enjoyable. The staff are very friendly and the owners are hands on, approachable, and very nice people. We stayed for 2 nights on our way to the safari trip we had planned. Geoff was amazing. He was able to get me onto the golf course where he is a member, told us all the best places to eat and overall just very helpful. Someone complained about the construction noise on an earlier review but honestly, we heard none of that while we were there and the construction is indeed next door. Expansion has its drawbacks but they are necessary, especially in a touristy area of the country. We are already planning our next trip to South Africa and Flamingo Lodge will definitely be included in the trip.

I have stayed here on a few occasions and it is always the same standard - First Class!!!

Geoff and Di who own the Lodge are most efficient with communications and bookings. They are both friendly, warm and hospitable. They run a very organised, exceptionally clean and comfortable lodge. Very attentive to customers and their needs always on hand to assist. Their team of staff are superb.

There are a variety of different rooms to accommodate different family dynamics through too single business professionals. Rooms are very clean and serviced daily and well equipped with all you need.

I would highly recommend Flamingo Lodge for anyone looking for excellent accommodation and a most pleasant stay. I cannot find fault with the whole operation and service. Great people!!

Whenever we travel to Umhlanga there is Only one Go to place and that is Flamingo Lodge, not only because it is super close to the Beach and Stunning restaurants but because of Uncle Geoff, Aunty Di and the extremely friendly and professional Staff. Uncle Geoff and Aunty Di are Family to us now and I can assure anyone, once you've been to Flamingo Lodge you will not go anywhere else. It really is Home away from Home. The Perfect holiday accommodation. We love everything about it... From Delicious breakfast to Sundowners on the Beautiful patio. We honestly can't fault anything about Flamingo. Can't wait until we go again! With lots of love, The Hewitt's

What a find. Such a lovely B&B. Spotlessly clean, lovely furnishings, wonderful staff and Owners. Di and Geoff couldn’t have made us more welcome, and were so kind and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was very comfortable, with the bonus of a fridge, microwave, kettle and crockery etc and our own private outside seating area. Breakfast was ample and delicious, with a good variety.
There is a lovely swimming pool too, although the beach is only at the bottom of the hill. The location is excellent, just tucked back from the busy high street, but just minutes way from all the lovely restaurants. An added bonus, every morning Thembe would clean the car. Amazing!!
Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

We had a superb experience with Geoff, Di and the wonderful staff. Even though our trip was impacted by recent flooding in KZN, the entire team was very accommodating to ensure our stay was the best it could be. Rooms are nicely appointed with every detail accounted for and morning breakfast a delight. Location also desirable as less than 10min walk to shops/mall/beach/etc. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed my stay, Geoff and his wife Di are amazing people. The property is located in a great spot, you can just park and walk to all the main attractions, including the beach. For the price, it was worth it as it included breakfast.

Geoff and Diane are such wonderful hosts that we decided to stay at their establishment for a second time and will continue to do so for all our future visits. Not only is their establishment warm, friendly and clean but on both occasions they have gone out of their way to accommodate our extra requests. Their staff is wonderful too, everyone is family orientated.
