My view of a Sun International lodge would be an awesome factor, this lodge is below average. Rooms are standard but clean.
Breakfast is standard bacon, eggs sausages and two sides- but quiet expensive in comparison to other hotel offering a continental breakfasts. Kids under 18 are not free.
No room service.
My parents are elderly and cannot walk a distance, I have also noticed the hotel does not have wheelchairs

Breakfast staff are very inhospitable and arrogant

There is not much to do on the property itself except you can spend a day pampering yourself at the Mangwanani Spa, relax by the pool with a drink or two, try your luck at the casino, or indulge in some delicious food. My favourite was the award-winning steakhouse franchise – Butcher Block.

Butcher Block was so good that I had to visit it twice to try more items on their menu. Also, ask for Pam. 😊 She is amazing!

So good company is a must. 😉 I have so many special memories at Sibaya with family and friends.

The Lodge is very clean. It is located in a very serene and beautiful area in Durban. The view by the pool is awesome and the greenery is a sight to behold. The breakfast is delicious and nice and fresh. The staff are also very warm and friendly.

It's a great bed and breakfast hotel. And they have a beautiful spa if you want to spoil yourself.

We recently stayed at the lodge and was very disappointed with the service, there is NO customer service at all at this place. Asked for an iron at 7 am waited for an hour no response. Eventually walked around and located an iron left in passage. Went to reception at 10:30 asked them about the iron was told all are out, noticed a iron and a board kept close to the reception area. Questioned this and received a blank look. On our arrival we had a trolley full of stuff, the guy saw me battling to hold the door open and push the trolley into the hotel he just sat there smiling, the security guard stood there trying not to look. Looking at all the comments on this platform it seems it is a norm at this hotel and nothing is done about the poor service.
Found ants full on the seat at breakfast , notified the waiter all she said was we will get someone to attend to it. We had our breakfast and still no one addressed the issue. Reminded her again and all she said they are coming . Terrible service

Very run down. No fridge in the room. Holes on the curtains and carpets were very worn. Not recommended at all. We had an interleaving room with a door between us and the people next door. We heard everything they were saying. We heard their child crying at 12 o clock at night. So flippen frustrating when you are trying to sleep. A very expensive place for so few nicities

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The rooms have a damp and mouldy smell. The carpets look old and outdated. There is mould growing in the showers.

We went out in the morning and went back to the room at 3pm and the room was not serviced. We went out again on our return that evening the complimentary coffee was not refilled. When trying to call reception the call did not go through. We went to reception to ask for the refill and the receptionist said she can hear us talking but we can not hear them. We ask them to look at the phone they said it is working. The next morning we called reception again but had the same problem.

We asked for a iron they said there is no staff and we need to come collect it from reception.

As a Hotelier myself this was the worst experience I received from a 3 star establishment.

Surely sun international can't be proud of this
We couldn't get hold of reception so had zero service
Our shower and bathroom were just NASTY , need a good clean
The passages and rooms smell damp and musty
I hope travelers arriving from other countries don't think that this standard is normal in South Africa

I travel a lot with work, so been to a lot of hotels and the reception staff here were the rudest I have ever met! Shocked at the lack of service when wifi would not work, after trying to tell us it was our devices, they let us sit in reception for over 2hrs waiting for IT to meet us, no apology at all!most expensive hotel we stayed in in South Africa and def the worst!

We Stayed at the Sibaya early January 2015 for a few nights. Rooms were not well kept. Staff at Reception very unfriendly. Apart from Wendy the cleaner who was very helpful and pleasant., we were not impressed with the rest of the team.

The outside areas are beautiful and really appealing, however the inside leaves a lot to be desired. The view is to die for though...endless views of the deep blue sea and if you like watching ships then it's just perfect. At night it's stunning as the ships turn on their lights against a black backdrop. Really beautiful!!! However, the room was not very clean. We stayed in a non smoking room but it had a very strong smell of smoke. The room was very dusty and not suitable at all for someone with allergies. It was a very spacious room with aircon, hairdryer, bath and shower and complimentary tea/coffee. Breakfast was good with a wide selection including eggs, mushrooms, sausages, cereals, yoghurts, fruits, pastries, etc. It was well prepared and delicious. The only issue with breakfast was that the hot selection is not self service so you have to wait in a queue for the one person behind the counter to serve you. Surely there must be a better way to arrange breakfast as it's really inconvenient especially when there's 5 people in front of you as the wait can be lengthy. But, breakfast was delicious! The hotel does not have any restaurants on site. You need to go to the food court at the casino or to one of the restaurants there. The food court has Steers,Nandos and Debonairs. The food is consistently good here. There's also a chinese restaurant in the casino building that sells great cappuccino and cakes. Definitely worth a visit after supper. There's no room service at the hotel either. There is a bar in the breakfast area where you can get the usual drinks however you cannot take your drinks to your room so it has to be consumed in the vicinity of the bar. Check in was really slow. Staff did not seem to know which rooms where available and someone had to go check. After check in we took a walk to the pool area but could not get out cos the doors were locked. That was a real shame as its a stunning view from the pool area. We then decided to have some coffee at the bar, however, changed our minds as the area was still being cleaned so we would have sipped our coffee to the relaxing sound of a vacuum cleaner. That was a bit lame for an establishment of this sort, to be vacuuming the carpets in the area where guests are supposed to consume their beverages at 3pm. I found this really annoying especially when you've just checked in and want to sit back and relax. Overall, I will not stay here again even though I loved the view. The room smelled like smoke,I could not relax with a coffee as the sit down area was being vacuumed, check in was too long, I had a lengthy wait in the breakfast queue...and all this during a midweek stay. I can only imagine what a nightmare this place would be over a weekend. It's a real shame to have such a beautiful view wasted.

It helps if you are a platinum card member at the casino. Otherwise it depends on the hotel management .

Hi Abimakin , there is no gym available. there are gyms in Umhlangsa about 10km away at the Gateway shopping centre and crescent Shopping centre. These are private gyms and you will have to pay for this
