The uMuzi Bushcamp is near Ulundi in the grounds of the Ondini Cultural Museum, the site where the Zulu monarch, King Cetshwayo, built his royal residence which was destroyed by the British forces under Lord Chelmsford in 1879 during the Anglo-Zulu war. Offering comfortable accommodation, seven of the huts have ensuite shower and toilets while the rest share modern ablution facilities.

Family visit with 13 people. Hosts and staff were excellent. Very welcoming, efficient and very accommodating.

This is not 5 star but is a genuine African bush camp experience staying in traditional huts with all the amenities of a hotel. Evening around the bar and the fire are the best.

Food was excellent, simple and very tasty.

Rooms are well appointed, clean and has everything you want.

It is close to the Hluhluwe game park and not too far from Lake St Lucia. The area has many things to do and see in reasonably close proximity. The on-site museum is well worth a visit.

Definitely recommend for a stay, you won’t be disappointed.

a bush camp with very nice (and for me original) Zulu-huts. Rex (Host) and staff are very supportive and have plenty of hinds for excursions and scenic road through zululand. proximity to Hluhluwe (cengeni gate) makes it good for early morning game drives. some parts of the cabins could need a makeover.

Not too many options in ulundi apart from the downtown businesses motel. I found this option with a chance ego stay in a traditional style Zulu beehive grass thatched hut filled with all the modern luxury of beds, lights and bathrooms. A range of hut types are set in a circular kraal type setting around a central pleasant bar area where dinner and drinks are served. I had read a review that the food was bad but instead it was an excellent mild curry with a superb follow up desert of the best lemon meringue pie i have ever tasted. The ldge is set in a peaceful country setting on the edge of town away from the hectic downtown and the staff were lovely and treated us like family. All up a fantastic and memorable experience of zululand that also included complementary entry to the ondini museum and recreation of the royal kraal burnt down by the British when they invaded zululand

We had a wonderful stay here a few years ago. Rex and Cato were great hosts and it was fun having drinks in the outdoor bar area. The beehive huts are comfortable, surprisingly warm and very quirky. Rex took us on a battlefield tour and was very knowledgable. The stay exceeded all our expectations.

I booked the place based on pics and curiosity of sleeping in a hut. Felt like Shaka Zulu times ♥️. Am generally a short person, for once I had to bend to go in and out of the door 😀😀. Very original!!!

Nice stay with a very nice host. She cooked for us in the evening. Was very nice and helpfull. The house was nice and cosy. The surrounding is not very beautiful, although the direct surrounding of the B&B is nice quiet

I was not happy at all. What is on the internet is not the same in person. At breakfast table there were flies and I could not even complete my breakfast. I opted to eat out the next day. The rooms are too hot and linen was not clean

Hard to find as the hotel turns out to have more than one name but once we were there staff was very friendly and food was excellent. We had to leave very early next morning so we were able to get a box breakfast.

The moment you set foot in the bushcamp you are aware you have arrived somewhere special. Our host Zanele sowed us to our accommodation and made us very welcome, opening the bar which is always important after a hot dusty trip. The evening meal was a curry washed down with more beer served in the lapa under a big Amarula tree with a blazing fire. At this point our other host Monica joined us with tales of village life in Zululand.
Next morning well rested in our traditional but comfortable huts, breakfast was taken al fresco under the blazing KZN sun providing the perfect start to another day.
Rex and Cato (the owners) unfortunately were away but we were certainly left in capable hands.
