A lovely hotel meters from the main Scottburgh beach. We stayed in a self catering family room which was perfect for our family. We had a separate master bedroom with Aircon, and the kids had the use of the lounge with sleeper couch and pull out mattress. A lovely full kitchen was perfect for simple meals and a private verandah with braai facilities allowed us to have some lovely outdoor meals whilst enjoying the great sea views from the 3rd floor.

The restaurant was superb (great bunny chow) but we don’t enjoy having too many restaurant meals hence why we enjoy having the use of our own kitchen.

The kids also enjoy the downtime in the afternoon so the extra large rooms are ideal.
Anything extra that we needed was seen to immediately and with a smile... fantastic service.
The GM must also be commended for addressing the issue of some rowdy guests that was beyond their control. The windows and sliders in the room seal very well so blocked out all noise from the badly behaved guests hence were no problem for us.

All in all, a lovely beach holiday. Thank you.

You wil be struck by the fantastic view from your room: the blue Indian Ocean, white breakers rolling on a sandy beach, and in the foreground palm trees on the attractive pool- and lawn area. Plenty of deck chairs available in shade and sunshine. There i a nice pool side bar with comfortable couches, and for the kiddies there is a small pool as well as trampoline.
This hotel is located in Scotburgh, bout an hour's drive South of Durban airport, and is an excellent place from which to explore the countryside and its attractions, or simply to play golf.
The rooms are spacious and equipped with safe, coffee/tea making equipment and ample wardrobe space. Good walk-in shower. Very few if any balconies to rooms; ground floor rooms, which are few, have a patio.
Meals are buffet style, and are good and varied. Lunch is a la carte and served either in the dining room or on the adjacent terrace.
Acoustics in the public area are not good, and when the 2 TVs in the bar area have a game going on, things can get a bit noisy, the bar area being essentially the same as the indoor lounge area.
Service is very good and very friendly.

We are regular visitors to The Blue Martin and return in Jan /Feb. Each year we see improvements to the facilities but the most outstanding feature of this delightful hotel is the friendly, polite and helpful nature of all the staff. Noting is too much trouble and we are greeted every day by the staffs happy smiling faces. There is, what can only be described as, 'million dollar views' from the rooms. The security, local shops and easy access to the beautiful beach makes for a truly idilic location. The Blue Marlin is our favourite hotel for all the reasons stated above, and more. We look forward each year to staying at the Blue Marlin and certainly have no hesitation in giving it a 'gold star' recommendation.

We 1st visited the hotel in 2019 and had such a wonderful trip we returned again. The hotel and rooms were spotless; buffet breakfasts delicious; pool and outdoor facilities including a kiddies jungle gym, trampoline and mini golf in great condition; and all staff were attentive and so friendly. The Kids Holiday program run by Hilton and his fabulous team was an absolute hit with my children and enabled me to relax knowing they were safe and having a wonderful time. The hotel overlooks the safe beach and river, close to shops and great restaurants and other tourist attractions. We cannot wait to return!

As Timeshare owner, who does not visit the hotel regularly, we always have a nice experience, considerate staff and value for money. For us, the hotel is conveniently situated central from most of the places worth visiting in the area, including Durban. The beach area, which is well maintained, is within close walking distance.

fridge with lots of water in bottles for drinking, when used the cleaners replaced everything, on a daily basis, also made the beds and cleaned the rooms daily.. There was a lift if required . This swimming pool was a bit warmer than the one at Mabula Game Lodge. Unfortunately the sea was quite rough, it was lifeguarded and there were 2 flags to show you where to swim according to the strong current at times. It was nice and warm, we enjoyed a couple of fun swims. Carolyne took us on a lovely walk so we got the hang of the area. Carolyne was a very good rep, so much better than the Mabula one. Our holiday came to an end and we got the mini bus back to Durban airport to Johannesburg, we handed our baggage in and didn't see it again until we collected from Heathrow which was great. It was a very long day with the 2 flights but all went well and we landed at Heathrow at 04.45 which was 15 minutes early. Nice to be met by Saga drivers to drive us all home to different areas of the country.

We came here to relax on the Titan/Saga beach extension after a busy week on safari. Carolyn our Titan rep was fabulous, professional and friendly.
It's a lovely hotel, just a short walk to the beach with beautiful views of the coastline and ocean from our room with amazing sunrises.
The food was good: I especially liked the pear salad for starter and the prawns for main course. The Woodfire oven pizzas were great and I had the best (mutton) curry I'd had in years - wish I'd asked for the recipe.
The staff were always friendly and courteous, nothing was too much trouble. Housekeeping were great, our room was always cleaned daily to a high standard, not just making the beds and straightening the towels.
We had a spa treatment which was divine and very reasonably priced. Scottsburgh High St is on the doorstep and we had our laundry done before we came home (around ZAR60 per kilo) and the man dropped it back at the hotel for us.
The only very slight downside is that if you're after total peace and quiet, the public areas (especially the restaurant) are not very sound absorbent so tend to carry noise easily. However, it was pretty quiet after 10-10:30pm every evening, even on the busy weekend, so wasn't really a problem for us.
Overall, we had a lovely time and would return if we found ourselves in the area again.

The Blue Marlin is a big hotel occupying the end corner of the high street. Check in is straightforward and friendly and the car was parked securely outside in a manned car park.
The room which was ground floor was spacious and well presented, plenty of bedding and towels. A good usable TV and decent WIFI and a comfortable bed which was very big. They have an attractive outside bar area for cocktails and beers and although we didn't use it, people were sitting out and enjoying it. There's a back gate with a code which will lead you out and down to the beach.
I slept pretty well, waking too early as my husband had set the air-con to polar which is far too cold for me.
The hotel should take care to keep up with its repairs as some of the doors in our corridor showed signs of damage at the base and no effort had been made to replace or repair and repaint. Breakfast was unremarkable, plenty of it, an omelette station. Lighting could be improved in this area

Food and beverage was very over priced, we ate at the hotel and had a few drinks on the first day of our stay and after seeing the bill we didn't eat again at the hotel, it was a lot cheaper to go eat at a restaurant every lunch and dinner. The drinks were priced at around R10 more per drink and a pizza for instance was around R60 more than a pizza of the same quality at any of the bars, restaurants that were 5 min walk from the hotel.
As a guest i would gladly pay R10/R20 more per meal for the convenience but just found prices were comparatively way too high and you are losing tons of money, there were 2 or 3 people eating lunch / dinner on any day which is a petty. Other than that our stay was very nice and enjoyable, the hotel is very nice and staff are great.
ps: the hallways smell of cat pee.

Great Stay, Great Staff and always great to visit our second home again. The family room was amazing ...so much space, the sea view never disappoints. The grounds were neatly kept and there was always someone nearby to assist with a lounger or a cushion.

South Africa’s electrical supply is 220volts 50hz. The outlet socket is a three pin type which will require an adaptor for U K devices. Most hotels provide a 2 pin euro adaptor that accepts cell phone chargers and 2 pin euro devices.
