Its with sadness to see how indaba is failing, slept plenty of times there, reception i had to test temp myself, room no towels, desk so sticky the coasters are stuck, dirty coffee mug, but not from previous day, long time, went for breakfast as always 6:30, was told it was never those times by an arrogant white man, told him i slept there plenty of times and never had breakfast that late, told me i was not there in the past 3 years, which aint true, previously my management also complaint, breakfast was from a menu, not really proper, omelette had about teaspoon full of cheese, dont know what meat was on there, but heavy old and chewie and tasteless, the ms balls chutney was watery with big chunks in and tasted crap, was told it is ms balls, juice tasted like water with colouring in, this is the worst i have ever found a place go downwards, review was left on their site and not showing, so bad reviews gets deleted, my next breakfast i wont even take, gonna drive to kfc. Upon arrival the Reception did not know about the booking. Spent 10 minutes waiting for them to find the voucher, after giving them a copy. Needless to say room was not ready. Spent another 15 minutes waiting for them to prep a room. Room amenities decent enough, but it smelt of damp. Light fitting also broken in bathroom. Dinner service was poor with no/little interest from staff. Breakfast worse, no food available at announced time. Most staff appear disinterested in providing service. At this price there are better establishments in RBay.

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review and our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by the water problem which we experienced - unfortunately unplanned outages do occur from time to time and our maintenance team worked hard to resolve the problem. The municipal water quality in Richards Bay is poor and unfortunately high metal and mineral content has caused staining of linen. We have rectified this by purchasing new linen and also changing machine chemicals in our laundry and hope that this is now resolved - we will continue to monitor all and ensure you that our cleanliness and hygiene is of a very high standard. Room Maintenance is ongoing and we will certainly ensure that all aircon units are in working order - I can assure you that should any room equipment be considered "dangerous", rooms will immediately be placed out of order and will not be allocated to guests until necessary repairs are completed. We have also addressed the other problems noted with our Genera Manger, Mike Oliver and have taken corrective action as necessary. Apologies again for inconvenience caused to you by the water outage and we do hope to welcome you back to the Indaba Lodge Richards Bay soon Kind Regards Sharon Hunink Group Marketing & Sales Manager

if it was possible I was going to rate them zero. On Monday evening, 02 September 2019, I ordered a food to be delivered to my room (318) at about 20:30 and a white tall gentleman deliver the food indeed. What shocked me was how after I opened the door, he stormed past me at the door and stood in my room and greeted us. Luckily my partner had just finished dressing up. What if she was naked? Is this how you treat paying customers? With absolutely no respect? In my understanding he was supposed to stand by the door, kindly confirm my order and ask me anything he wanted to ask at the door. My privacy was rudely violated and this did not sit well with me. Is this how Indaba train its people behave? Is this the image you instructed him to paint of your lodge? What was he looking for that he couldn’t ask me at the door or ring my room? Was it because I am a black man and as such always engaged in criminal activities? I have been traveling to Richards Bay every week since 2017 and have stayed in every hotel and lodge in Richards Bay, no one has ever managed to do what he did to me. Stripped me of my dignity and made me feel like I was nothing, all while I paid to be there. Even if he is the manager he has no right to invade my privacy the way he did. I travel to Richards Bay on business every week but I do not see myself staying at this hotel again.
