We were so impressed by our stay at Smith Grove. We were a family of 5 adults and stayed for 4 nights and we were all happy.
From the moment we arrived, it was easy to find, good signage, good location, 5 minutes from where we needed to be, safe and secure parking behind a gate, we were greeted and felt so welcomed. The rooms were clean and tidy, even better than these pictures. Beds were comfortable, lovely cushions and duvets. All rooms had air con. Bathrooms had lovely showers and amazing shower heads.
The breakfast was also wonderful - every morning we had a good selection of cereals, muesli, yogurts, toast, fruit juice, jam, tea, coffee and then we were each made our own hot breakfast individually to our needs or eggs, bacon (good size), mushrooms, tomato and even a lovely little flapjack was such a nice touch. Staff went out of their way to get extras for instance hairdryers or an iron or whatever we requested.
Would definitely recommend to all going to Pietermaritzburg

10/10. Great value for money. Great location that is secure and has enough parking bays. The room was clean and the host (Neville) was very accosting and made sure we were happy from time to time. Would definitely come back

Everything I had requested I got the heater, blankets coz it was freezing in PMB. The owner very friendly and welcoming, room very quiet (which i like). Loved the old feel of the place and the bathtub was lovely very well kept it looks new. Just that the bed is small at least a Queen bed is better. Breakfast was below average for me , I guess maybe I am used to buffets in hotels so I was not impressed at all. It's a great place to go to for some peace and quiet and it's clean.

We stayed for a weekend. Rooms are beautifully decorated. Each room has a fridge, tea and coffee in the rooms. Choclates in a little container. The staff are so friendly. Beautiful pool area. Small guest house but a home away from home. Highly recommended.

Fantastic b&b. The interior and décor is amazing. Eye for style and details. Rooms are comfortable and have everything you need. Self service kitchen available with all the appliances. And even a swimming pool and braai area outside for the summer months.

My mom and I traveled to Pietermaritzburg for a meeting, we love to stay at Smithgrove B&B.
we previously stayed there in 2021 and since then so many upgrades have been made its so luxurious and such a beautiful place. Just an excellent stay if you need to visit PMB for anything... Absolutely 10 out of 10

PS: love the new addiction to the rooms - the little coffee station in each room amazing!!

We booked one night at smith grove. The house is easy to find, as it is directly on the main street.
Neville welcomed us very friendly and showed us the room. Each room has his one bathroom and his individual character. Parking is provided and looked with a gate, as everywhere.
Breakfast is on top of the price. Basic but provides everything for a good start in the day!
I was really surprised by this place! Recommend it for a stopover.

Smith Grove B&B must be the neatest and cleanest accommodation that we have stayed in for a long time. Our room was absolutely immaculate. The reception was friendly and efficient. Smith Grove is situated just of Old Howick Road so we were concerned that traffic noise might be an issue. However the road is quiet during the night and there were very little traffic noise. Highly recommended.
