Enjoyed my stay, convenient location to the city, warm bed, hot shower, nice breakfast. Check-in and check-out was efficient and staff friendly and accommodating. Would recommend as a business stopover.

The rooms are ok, though the sofa in our room needed replacement. Garden is unkept and in a sorry state. Security is non-existent, despite the fact that the property at the back borders on a vacant piece of land; anyone can jump over the "fence" and it was completely dark at the back with no lights on during the whole night. Some of the windows in our room could not be closed as the latches were broken. The black guy who met us at reception when booking in was very friendly and tried to assist with everything, but the same cannot be said of the owner. She really has to reconsider her attitude. When are guest house owners going to realize that the "norm" for charging a certain price for a night's stay is only applicable if the establishment lives up to that norm? This place is overpriced for what one gets.

Three couples were booked into Thorntree by our hosts.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, quiet, beautiful tranquil place with pleasant staff and lovely food. Fantastic views from the dinning room veranda.
Rooms were large, clean & freshly serviced.
No complaints at all.
Thanks Thorntree for an awesome stay and your wonderful hospitality.

We were put into Thorn Tree Lodge because Lincoln Cottages let us down. It is perfectly adequate, but the housekeeping was very erratic - no glasses one night, no milk the next night, no bath mat the next night - and some things like the kettle and bedside table were quite dirty.

I'm currently at Thorn Tree Lodge now.... And the rooms are baddddd. The beds are terrible, you feel like you are sleeping on a trampoline. When we arrived here last night, the only concern I had was the stuffiness in the room, luckily I had my air fresher in my bag,,,, then the TV was an old Telefunken TV with no DSTV. no microwave, no fridge. Then we went to bed.... The bed is an old mattress,,,,,,, my back still hurts.

Where to begin this review of the Thorn Tree lodge I don't really know. I guess I'll begin by stating that it was my company's South Africa location nearby that booked this hotel for me. It is likely that no one on staff there ever stayed at this hotel. At least I hope that is the case, as this hotel has so many deficiencies that I'm not even going to attempt to list them in this review. The best thing this hotel has going for it is the caretakers, Samatha and David, who run it day to day. The real problem at the Thorntree is that the owner has not invested any money in refurbishment or upgrades to this location and it's 14 year existence. The only exception to that is adding a dreadfully slow Internet connection where in you almost have to be in the main dining room of the lobby to actually get any connection on Wi-Fi at all. The only reason that I can imagine that a company would book a traveling company employee into this hotel is that no local employees have ever stayed here or other, better hotels nearby are sold out. Suffice to say that this hotel is totally inadequate for experienced businees travellers. Dreary, dark rooms, lack of services, and an overall shabiness are standard here. The Thorn Tree could easily be converted into a monastery if the beds were just a little more comfortable.

HAd a lovely stay at Thorn Tree Hill, Staff were great and super friendly. Rooms were great, an extra bed was put in the room for us with ample space to spare. Will definitely be back. Did not eat but the breakfast smelt great.

What a great place to stay. Staff really friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable, Thorn Tree were so accommodating that they added a extra bed in our room for our little girl, thank you. After the extra bed was added there was still ample space. We did not have breakfast but it did smell good when checking out. Thank you for making our family week end extra special. Will definitely be back.

Thorn Tree Lodge offers generally good value for money. It is a great establishment, where I have often stayed before, and never had any bad experiences. It boasts a friendly (even cheerful) and helpful reception. Depending on your needs, various types of room are available, and this time around I again had a comfortable room in a pleasant setting

On arrival we were only booked for 2 nights and not for 3 as confirmed via e-mail.
the matresses and linnen are realy out dated, so are the tv's and bedlamps. Need a lot of attention in rooms. Our towels and toiletpaper were not changed and when we asked for new toiletpaper in the morning the guy at reception told us that he does not have any. That was the answer to my opinion which is = I will never stay over at Thorn Tree lodge again. The pictures are also mis leading.
