Firstly we booked for New England Road, but make sure this is where you going as there is another branch in Morcom Road Prestbury. The opposite side of town. Which is where we had to stay. Secondly we were on the ground floor & people entering the establishment were very noisy together with the reception staff. The person on duty starts to set breakfast tables at about 2am, loud enough to wake all of the ground floor guests. The gate was broken so cars leaving the premises had to hoot, just to add to the noise. It was clean & staff were friendly, but I will not recommend.

The little hotel exceeds ones expectations on several levels. 1) Very well appointed entrance and rooms. 2) Breakfast and dinner included in the room rate. 3) Friendly helpful staff.

I stayed for two evenings and found the hotel a fresh breeze of air.

although first impressions can be deceiving at first it looked lovely and clean. staff friendly and helpful.
However on closer look. Towels were old and stained with holes. on even closer look "slightly imperfect" label explains holes but not stain marks, and hair left from previous user.
Food was plenty and sometimes good but sometimes just been kept hot for to long. restaurant staff again was friendly and well trained.
Trolley bins right outside a bedroom is asking for bugs, as i encountered cockroaches in fridge cupboard.
With a little more attention to details this establishment can be really nice.

It was by far the worst hotel experience in my life! It took forever to check us in. We eventually got a room which was not pleasant at all. It was like a hostel "Emzini Wezintsizwa"/bootcamp. The TV was not working, the list is endless..

It was good to stay there although we had a problem with the type of bed they had. The staff and reception was excellent and rooms were clean and the hotel as a whole. I surely would recommend others to visit the hotel but bed issue needs to be attended. Thanks

I would not recommend this facility, very noisy, poorly maintained interior, broken washbasin, black mould in shower. To my opinion, this facility do not qualify to be called a boutique hotel..........

A bad experience, When the booking was done, I was given the address as 18 New England road (on my Agoda Booking Letter) on arrival at this address, after much scratching of the receptionists head and calling a supervisor, it was discovered that I was in fact booked at the hotel, which is situated in another part of Pietermaritzburg, approx. 6 Km away. ( What would they have done if I did not have my own transport)
Eventually got there, Given room number 5. Staff friendly, but accommodation leaves much to be desired, one small towel rail in a double room, window on ground floor has a locking mechanism, but can't be locked because the key had been broken off in the lock, carpet has an iron burn mark from a previous guest and room very small. Double bed although comfortable, was not of very good quality, and rocks when your partner moves. Can't recommend this place

"Sleeping in this venue was pleasantly quiet. As they didn't had the Sport Channel on their DStv package I manage to stream the football through free WiFi, comfortable rooms. Great place to stay in a quiet suburb."
