My wife and I stayed 1 night, arriving at noon with a rental car and, after security, parking in front. Entering the beautiful lobby, a friendly receptionist checked the prepaid voucher, as I signed a waiver sheet, then presented our key card. We took the stairs to the 1st floor.
Room 219 was tile/wood floored and opened to a hall passing a toilet room, then a fully outfitted bathroom with a tub and separate shower, followed by a comfortable king across a decorative fireplace with a large TV, small closet, desk with chair and a sitting chair. An opening window had a west view over the road to the mountains. The only negative was the difficult regulation of hot water in the shower.
The room had quiet AC, a small refrigerator, safe, hot pot with coffee/tea and excellent satellite reception of Sky news. Motor, 3 SABCs + 15 channels.
The 6:30AM breakfast, served in the restaurant’s dining room with a working fireplace, was excellent; juices, fruit, egg station, hot meats and veggies, cheese, breads/jams, muffins and regular coffee.
Overall, good service with pleasant professional personalities throughout this well managed establishment. May be a 5* when the pool complex is completed.

This is an ideal hotel for a weekend break as it is well located within close proximity of the Midlands meander.
Unfortunately with Covid restrictions in place the breakfast buffet could not be displayed to its full potential and therefore meals were rather limited. The staff did however work around this and were very helpful under these trying times.
The room was very comfortable however I disagree with the "no room make up every day" rule due to Covid as this can be overcome with sanitising and it something that most guests expect when you are in fact paying for this service.

The check-in and checkout were fine, the problem started when I would come back from work to find that that my room door was not closed, this happened on two occasions; could just be my luck and not something that happens often. 2nd issue, we would leave the hotel around 07h00 and come back after 17h00 and find that the rooms are either not cleaned yet or they are still cleaning. that time all you want to do is take a shower and rest after a rough day. . the menu needs to be relooked; it's the same dinner menu EVERYDAY, not sure if this is just for Government rates of if it's for everyone, but still !!!! it's not a bad place, just a few things that need to be looked at.

The hotel is set in an “English” countryside with modern refurbishments. The amazing rooms were great except for being close to the main road off the highway. Dinner was a disappointment. The buffet takes my appetite away so I never try it if I can help it. The a la carte menu was none the better. Ordered a seafood basket & every morsel was dunked in batter & fried, except for mussels which was also swimming in a creamy sauce. A full baby rotisserie chicken was also not moist. Try to drive to PMB town for better restaurants.

Our 6 night stay was disappointing. Sadly the management were unable to rectify much. Don't eat the deserts or order specialized coffee's. Nothing was on offer for the kids, housekeeping was mediocre and broken glass around the swimming pool area,non guests with cooler boxes and loud music and children relieving themselves in the garden surrounding the pool.

Lovely recently updated hotel in Hilton. Great service and setting. Food is a bit average but the service made up for it. Beware the large noisy aircon units - if you get a room near these, ask to be moved. Otherwise lovely.

The guard denied us entry, even though we had booked on booking.com and indicated that we would be arriving late. We also additionally called to confirm that we were arriving late. Then after 5 hours of driving from Johannesburg to Pietermaritzburg, the guard attempted to deny us entry. It took a lot of arguing for us to be allowed to see the manager. Thats when we were finally accepted into a noisy lobby full of drunk guests who were clearly overbooked. Excellent bedding, beautiful bathrooms. I know COVID has depressed society, but I hope Anew renews!

We had a very disappointing stay, I booked the hotel during a heatwave - looking for somewhere we could overnight with our two kids. We arrived in the afternoon to find the pool area is being renovated... We were not informed of this before booking. They have a second pool option but it is further from the hotel, and thus not as easy as sitting on the terrace and watching the kids swim. The aircon in our room was also broken and after two separate maintenance people tried to fix it we eventually moved - to a smaller room which made it feel like a downgrade. And then the aircon in the new room froze as well, there was obviously a problem with the whole floor but nobody picked it up. We just sweated through the night!! Not ideal in a heatwave, when you paying for a 4 star hotel. All in all a very average experience..

Absulute disaster..from check in to staying at this place was crap..You pay 4 star rates and get below one star service..Noisy and below mediorce staff and environment.The staff make so much of noise 24 hours i wish you luck with sleeping..the hot water is not hot is warm..the toilet and bathroom stinks..the bed is noisy and pillows uncomfortable...overal the worst hotel i have stayed in..i stayed in over 100 hotels and this one was down there ad the worst!!!I want part of my money back.

A lovely location, friendly staff but the carpets and absence of porters to assist with luggage was a nightmare. Food wasn’t the best needs a huge improvement. Our bath tub leaked and the entire bathroom was flooded including the carpeted room. We weren’t offered another room . They just mopped up and left towels on the floor said it would be sorted in the morning .
