We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the chalets- accomodation is rustic, clean, and well designed. The outdoor showers are heavenly.
Location is peaceful and private, with warthog and kudu wandering around, and birdlife aplenty.
The owners are on site and very accommodating.

Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful, rustic getaway. We will definitely be visiting again!

The best chalets; great place; excellent birdlife and game to view; friendly staff; all very nice, except for the boat launching strip straight into the wind.
a Concrete boat ramp, maybe a jetty with some old tyres on the side and place to tie your boat will give Nkonkoni Fishing Camp an excellent rating from my point of view.
Also please clean and fill up the small hand-build garden-feature water-ponds infront of each chalet.

Thanks for your feedback Marius, we appreciate it. The launch site remains a challenge wit the ever changing water levels we have to keep changing it. Hopefully it will stay where it is currently so we can make some improvements.

The Nkonkoni Fishing Camp is beautifully surrounded by bush with abundance of game: there is a walking distance to the mighty lake Jozini, with a boat launching site nearby. Both the chalets and the tents are perfectly designed and maintained - with oil lamps on the table in the evening you can really feel that Spirit of Africa. The staff and especially managers Lee and Manuel will go not that extra mile but 100 extra miles to be of your utmost assistance. When our motor boat capsized on the lake they sacrificed their Saturday and Sunday and mobilized all their friends and resources, claiming it was their duty...

We have stayed here twice now and have really enjoyed it. The chalets are well spaced out offering decent privacy. You get to appreciate the peaceful surroundings. Inside the chalets, the sleeping area is very spacious and comfortable. Bathrooms are a luxurious treat with 2 sinks, a deep tub or jacuzzi, and a private outdoor shower. The outdoor kitchen is well appointed for all cooking needs, with a lovely outdoor dining table, and your own braai area screened off for privacy.
What we enjoy most when we stay is exploring the entire property in our 4x4. There is an easily drivable network of roads and we have been lucky enough to see lots of wildlife. Such a bonus!
Managers Manuel and Lee are always available to ensure guests are well taken care of.
Travelling for work isn't always easy, but staying at Nkonkoni makes it worthwhile. We really hope we can come back again soon.

Recently had a family get together at Nkonkoni Fishing Camp. My only surprise was my wife actually knows how to fish, kicked our asses properly and now thinks shes the "Boss". The fishing camp, staff and owners went way beyond our expectations and made our trip most enjoyable. Even before we arrived, we received a phone call from reception asking our ice and wood needs for the evening. Bait is available and plenty of it. the road to the Pump house is easy enough that my 16 year old was towing our boat there and back easily. We without a doubt will be returning soon. Thanks again for all you guys did. Paulo, Sandra, Danny and Nelson.

Although I have visited Pongolapoort Dam many times previously, I was unaware of the Nkonkoni Fishing Camp in this biosphere reserve. This secluded chalet and tented site in a wooded park setting is a real jewel. The site teems with animals and birdlife. Seeing an elephant en route to the boat launch site was an unexpected bonus. The chalet decor is high class and very comfortable with a much better grade of kitchen utensils etc than one might expect. Outdoor showers in chalet 1 are a plus feature! Chalets have their own braai facilities but there is also a shared boma with DSTV. The raised tent camp has its own boma and can support larger groups. The road to the three boat launch sites is graded smooth but beware of the clayey substrate at the edge of the dam, depending on the water level. This site gives access to a much wider range of lake environments and fishing opportunities than I experienced in the "river" section upstream to the west.

Phenomenal location and facilities - this fishing camp really is great spot for "unwinding" in the bush and making you feel like you are away from reality. The rooms are nicely situated and provide for decent nights sleep.

Would definitely recommend it -

We decided on a spur of the moment fishing trip and it was worth every cent!!
From being greeted by friendly staff and beautiful gardens, a large variety of animals, fishing with hippos watching us and elephants swimming, to having a refreshing swim, relaxed evening in our private boma, a well deserved spa bath/outside shower and then sleeping comfortable in a tidy rooms.
Just make sure you come prepared for the mosquitos...
We will definitely be back!

My husband and I took a 2 days visit to Nkonkono Fishing Camp over January. The camp is delightful and on those hot Northern KZN afternoons a dip in the pool was most welcome. We enjoyed the ambiance of the camp. We wanted to go Tiger fishing, which is you have your own boat, Nkonkono is an ideal spot, we don't so had to find alternative means which was about an hour drive away. The unit was practical and good value for money.
