Although I have visited Pongolapoort Dam many times previously, I was unaware of the Nkonkoni Fishing Camp in this biosphere reserve. This secluded chalet and tented site in a wooded park setting is a real jewel. The site teems with animals and birdlife. Seeing an elephant en route to the boat launch site was an unexpected bonus. The chalet decor is high class and very comfortable with a much better grade of kitchen utensils etc than one might expect. Outdoor showers in chalet 1 are a plus feature! Chalets have their own braai facilities but there is also a shared boma with DSTV. The raised tent camp has its own boma and can support larger groups. The road to the three boat launch sites is graded smooth but beware of the clayey substrate at the edge of the dam, depending on the water level. This site gives access to a much wider range of lake environments and fishing opportunities than I experienced in the "river" section upstream to the west.

Honestly the best camp at Jozini, we have a gents fishing weekend once a year at Jozini we only discovered Nkonkoni a couple years back and have not gone anywhere else since, we always get Lee to cater for us and herself and husband are pure excellence when it comes to hosting. We will be back every year and always take the catered option as this make life much easier and the home cooked style food is always a winner...

Well managed resort with great facilities. We had everything we needed and then some. Enjoyed the outdoor showers and visits from the warthogs and Nyalas. The private boma and konka made for quality family time around the fire. Definitely recommended.

Recently had a family get together at Nkonkoni Fishing Camp. My only surprise was my wife actually knows how to fish, kicked our asses properly and now thinks shes the "Boss". The fishing camp, staff and owners went way beyond our expectations and made our trip most enjoyable. Even before we arrived, we received a phone call from reception asking our ice and wood needs for the evening. Bait is available and plenty of it. the road to the Pump house is easy enough that my 16 year old was towing our boat there and back easily. We without a doubt will be returning soon. Thanks again for all you guys did. Paulo, Sandra, Danny and Nelson.
