Affordable stopover. I wouldn't spend a whole holiday or weekend there . Inside the unit was like the pics on booking.com, patio was old and not paved like on the pic and braai place was not usable and uprooted by roots . Even though there were no other guest we got the oldest unit .Pool was green und I went for a shower instead which was great . Issues we had like no toilet paper were attended to.

Our stay at Sand Forest was extraordinary. The staff and owners made us feel welcome. Their enthusiasm guaranteed that we felt at home straight away. The chalet was clean, spacious, cool with all the necessities for comfort. A truly unforgettable experience. The sights and sounds at Sand Forest were simply sensational. In the evenings we enjoyed the most endearing little bushbabies and in the day a symphony of birdsong.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem of a place late in the afternoon near Hluhluwe. The rustic, comfortable accommodation was superb, and when I left to go into town for supper I was never expecting to find a group of Sable Antelope grazing in the spot where I was due to park on my return! the bed was comfortable, the shower was like a high-pressure washer and the surrounds "out of Africa". I would recommend this place to any traveller who needs to break a journey near Hluhluwe.

The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean with fridges, microwave, kettle and fans. In the extreme heat the airconditioners take strain and were not working in some of the rooms. Ours gave up very soon in the evening. The hosts, Cary and Godfrey are very helpful and Godfrey has great tree and bird knowledge. An excellent base for those of you wanting to visit the unique sand forest habitat in the area.

The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The room was cozy and fitted with air conditioning. Nice clean sheets on the beds. The silence were awesome with abundant bird life to view. It is however suggested that attention to the kitchen utensils should be given as some items were rusted giving it a dirty appearance. Unfortunately, we could not make use of the pool as maintenance were required. The issues reported to our hosts, was immediately addressed and resolved. Cleaning of the rooms daily is also a great plus if you want to hit the road early mornings to go out and explore the area, so many attractions to name them all. We will most definitely stay there again in the future. Some of the insect and wild life encountered.

I have been to sand forest lodge many times it is my number 1 place to stay when in hluhluwe... Prices are always affordable and the accommodation is perfectly simple it's all you need for a self catering lodge. Braai facilities outside are always kept clean and the cabins are delightful to stay in. Each room is air-conditioned to your preference which makes for peaceful sleeping! The team at sand forest lodge will accommodate in anyway possible. I highly recommend Sand Forest Lodge to everyone who wants to venture into hluhluwe without spending a fortune to experience it :) also very closely situated to all the major game/safari parks

We found Sand Forest Lodge accommodation, well maintained and most comfortable with everything you need. The cottages are very private and well located with lovely views of the extensive gardens. The gardens/forest/grounds are well kept, it is a joy to walk around and see the many labelled interesting trees. We were delighted to have good bird sihtings (102) and highlights were definately seeing the Neergard's Sunbird and a Narina Trogan. A visit to the nursery located within the grounds is a must as it is well stocked with interesting plants, scrubs and trees. The owners know the area well, are most helpful and will go the extra mile to make you comfortable and happy.

We arrived to a fully equipped kitchen, large seating in and out, big comfortable beds and a happy welcome. Mornings and evenings are a great time to see a large number of birds (hornbills, kingfisher etc). Sand Forest Lodge is perfectly placed for access to The Memorial Gate of the Hluhluwe–Imfolozi Game Park, The Cheetah Project and Lake St Lucia.

The chalets are comfortable, nicely furnished. Hosts are friendly and helpful. Situation close to game reserves and False Bay. Enjoyable short walks in the Sand Forest on the property, with some game for viewing as well. They also have a nursery wher indigenous plants can be bought.

Thanks for the solitude and serenity it brought, great hosts, comfortable bed and clean rooms. Wonderful excursion through the nursery and learnt a lot from Godfrey. watching the Impala and Nyala roam about was calming to say the least. Listening to the sounds of bird calls early in the morning was heaven.
