Nibela Lake Lodge blends seamlessly into its forest surroundings, overlooking the expansive Lake St Lucia. Eleven thatched, timber chalets are situated beneath a magnificent canopy of trees, and are connected by wooden walkways, raised high above the cool forest floor. Private and secluded, guests are able to enjoy the solitude and tranquility of Africa at its best. Our Lakeside restaurant boasts a variety of delicious homemade meals prepared daily. Activities include a tented spa overlooking the lake with various treatments available, quad biking, guided walk, nights drives, guided trips to the famous flood plains where pelicans and flamingos like to gather, star gazing, mountain biking, boat cruises, cultural tours and fishing. There are two swimming pools on the property one with a large kiddies outside play area. Nibela Lake Lodge is off the beaten track and deep in the bush but the trip is totally worth the drive. We guarantee you will leave feeling rejuvenated.

We started our KZN trip here with our 3 teens and it was a perfect place to unwind. We stayed at the Sobhengu Lodge side in a 3 bedroomed self catering house which suited us. My husband commented how well the braai area was set up & we had a pizza oven. We walked and ran around the reserve which was safe & beautiful as well as doing a morning bird walk with Lucky. To keep the teens happy we booked the Quad bike trip to the caves which was lots of adrenalin fun and the Hippo & Croc cruise where we saw so many birds. The pool next to the lake is stunning and the putt putt course loads of fun. It really is a beautiful part of SA with so much to do. The staff were all helpful & friendly and we will definitely be back.

An amazing setting . Staff were brilliant. One draw back traveling 20 km on sand road to get there . All meals were cooked as requested . The rooms comfortable and the outside deck overlooking the estate is great . We had 2 activities both well organised with knowledgeable staff . 6 am hippo and crocodile outing as well as night walk and star gazing.

We're spending a week in the timeshare section, Sobhengu Lodge. Third time we've visited this unique and beautiful place. Log cottages in the indigenous forest are connected to the main hotel facilities with a boardwalk. Due to Covid restrictions the small restaurant is closed but they provide the meals to take away. Excellent place for birding and walking in nature.

Room Tip: The access road is gravel and slow going with many animals and pedestrians. Take it easy.

Nibela Lake Lodge is beautifully situated on the Lake St Lucia. We ran all the trails and roads in the park in the mornings often sighting wildlife. The guide, Lucky has such a vast knowledge on the boat cruise we went. The owners were exceptionally helpful in helping us out of a pickle. Nothing is too much for them and their staff.

We keep on going back to Nibela, as often as our Dream Vacations points and fuel budget allow. Total relaxation, superb birding, easy walks, the funniest putt-putt course ever (no previous skills will help you!), lovely swimming pools. The food this time around was the best ever - great new additions to the menu. We really loved our stay.
