My wife and I stayed 1 night, arriving at 3PM with a rental car and parking in front. A receptionist checked the prepaid voucher, as I signed a waiver sheet, then presented our key card with instructions to park at the hotel’s back entrance.
Carpeted room #120 opened to a fully outfitted bathroom with a tile shower, followed by 2 comfortable queens across a desk with chair and a sitting chair. A sliding door opened to a patio with table and chairs with a long garden view. The room had quiet AC, safe, hot pot with coffee/tea and the cable TV had CNN, SABC, e movie, many sports + local channels.
We walked to the distant bar for decent open WIFI as none was available near our room.
The 6:30AM breakfast, served in the buffet dining room, was excellent; juices, fruit, egg station, hot meats and veggies, cheese, breads/jams, muffins and regular coffee.
Overall, this older hotel is a bit tired and sits low in the wet season but its friendly staff and convenient location suits those seeking a safari. Upgraded facilities are available in the adjoining lodge and 2 rondavels.

Our room was small and smelled musty. Very little pressure in the shower and noisy aircon aimed straight at the bed and your face. The dining room staff was not interested in serving guests. We had to order our wine from the outside bar and call a waiter to bring us menus. Food was disappointing - curry was mainly bones & sauce and Pork filet was tasteless and dry.

Our stay at the ANEW Hotel Hluhluwe was fantastic, on arrival you are met with friendly faces and a cool refreshing towel. Upon entering the property you will experience true African artwork and décor. The sparkling pool is so inviting while sipping craft gin or delicious cocktails from the bar. There are loads of activities at the property and in the area, a playground for the kids and evening Zulu dancers who will blow your mind with their traditional dance. The rooms was clean and tidy and the amenities provided meet any travelers needs. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was scrumptious and tasty, the food is made with love and care. All covid regulations were in place and we felt safe staying at the ANEW Hotel Hluhluwe. Thank you to the team for their friendly and efficient service, you have allowed us to make special memories which we will cherish forever.

Sadira the Hotel manager took the time to introduce herself to my wife and me during our visit.
The team at ANEW Hotel Hluhluwe are very professional and as seasoned travelers, we observed how they were always attentive to the clients’ needs.
Sadira can take credit for their alertness and a compliment richly deserved.
The meals were excellent, and we shared a wild game sosatie (Kudu, Zebra, Springbok etc) concept that we had at a very large and popular restaurant in Windhoek, Namibia. Sean the head chef was excited to hear about the concept which he will create when catering for their overseas guest.
We took advantage of being nearby to the Hluhluwe Game reserve and were extremely fortunate to see about 80 elephants, two lions, two rhino,s and Buffalos in three hours.
Four of the big five, we went to Namibia recently and never saw one elephant over a five-day period.
These great sightings would have not been possible if we had not taken the driver-driven safari and he was in radio contact with the other safaris, otherwise we would have never seen the lions.
On the return about 10h00, breakfasts was still being served for the safari guests.
Lounging around the sparkling pool, listening to the wild birds while enjoying a drink was extremely relaxing while in Africa with its wonderful sunsets but in a great hotel.
The level of service, meals and rooms exceeds their “star rating”.
I strongly recommend the ANEW Hotel Hluhluwe and the safari trip to Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park.
We intend to make this trip our annual wildlife holidays, only three hours drive from Durban and 2.5 hours from King Shaka airport.
It was the wife's birthday and the room was made romantic with petals, a complimentary bottle of red wine, and a superb chocolate mousse cake

Two nights stay during our group tour (17 pax) in SA.
When we arrived we felt very welcome, a drink and refreshing towels were served.
The room was on the ground floor in, what I would call a "transit" corridor...many other guest from group tours were allocated here that resulted in much traffic and noise here. Room was large but we found a major cleaning problem here...told reception and was solved after we had diner but we kept wondering whether the rest of the room would have been properly cleaned or not. Bathroom was very small, "one person each", luckily there was a separate toilet. Diner (buffet) was OK. When we go to sleep there was a tremendous noise from a bunch of guests laughing and shouting in the room next to ours. We waited about 30 min. but the noise was only increasing so we asked housekeeping to ask them to be more quiet, which hey dit and it was quiet the whole night.
Breakfast was just OK, no cheeses available and the live cooking stand for eggs took too long to prepare an egg, only one person to do the job was way to few, coffee or tea was self service. Prices for drinks in the restaurant and the bar were good but service, again, very slow, even chaotic when we ordered a bottle of wine during diner.
During our two days stay we had three times a problem with our key card and two times a problem with the safe who wouldn't open with the correct code ! Each time we had to go to reception desk and stand in line to resolve this. Regarding the safari part, we had a lovely time, saw many animals, great 4x4 truck with an excellent driver/guide.

This was our second visit and the outcome was as great as the first time.
We were celebrating our anniversary and the room was nicely setup with petals, hearts, bottle of wine, chocolate and a sumptuous fruit arrangement.
The meals were great, 1st night buffet and the 2nd night, venison fillets and rack of lamb chops. Devine.
The game drive was great and we were lucky enough to see rhino and buffalo and many buck species.
Sadira and her team coped extremely well with the influx on foreign visitors and it made me proud to be a South African to see them make the visitors happy and comfortable.
They even invited them into the Africa dance spectacle in which they danced:)
I might be biased but it will be very difficult to find a better establishment in Northern KZN for comfort and at an affordable price.
Highly recommended Arnold Muscat Durban

This hotel was chosen and booked by our tour operator for one night as we traveled throughout South Africa. I wished we had more time at this hotel, such a warm cozy and leisure feel in the middle of the lush vegetation with a safari ambience. The dinner buffet was amazing and so is their choice of wines. Every staff member we encountered were friendly and paid careful attention to our needs. We quite enjoyed the lively Zulu dancing by the outdoor fire pit. A great way to end before bed.

Since our arrival this hotel was a compete joke. We arrived to a partially made up room - no towels or pillow cases. The maid then proceeded to enter our room without knocking. We were then ‘upgraded’ to a room with a smaller bed. Basically none of the items on the menu exist and the staff have no idea what they are doing. Honestly one of the worst hotel experiences we have encountered. Such a shame
