Stayed here one night with my wife and 4.yo as we wanted to experience a safari drive yet bring along our small boy.
The hotel was accommodating and allowed us to bring him along for the morning game drive. We saw 2 out of 5 of the Big 5. Rhinos and Buffalos.
We also booked a children's game drive in the afternoon for our son, and as there weren't other guests, they let us join in too!

Dinner was included in the stay and it was filling and good.

Breakfast was similarly well prepared and tasty.

Room itself is very basic with a large queen bed and a shower in the toilet. Remember to bring your own plug adapter or you might not be able to charge your phones and camera!

Free parking is available for guests.

Overall a good stay and would definitely recommend if you are coming to this area.

Hotel Room: 3 Stars (Average room, basic and no bath tub)
Room View: 3 Stars (You are staying within a small reserve not much views)
Service of Staff: 4 Stars (Not exactly helpful but they were accommodating)
Lounges/Restaurants: 5 Stars (Tasty food. Ordered from a menu)
Room Service: NA
Location: 5 Stars (Easy to reach, next to the cat conservation and you can do game drives to Hluhluwe–iMfolozi Park)

We stayed in the 10 bedded chalet. Lovely view of the ocean from upstairs. Bedrooms are downstairs and they were great. Clean, cool and a decent size. There is aircon downstairs. On previous reviews I noticed that the upstairs was rather warm so we took our own fans and that really did help, as it was a particularly hot week. There was a temporary problem with the municipal water and they immediately bought us 5 liters of water. We requested a washing line and immediately they went off, found some wire and made a washing line. Service is outstanding from the super friendly staff. We had one meal at the restaurant-food was excellent but service not great. Maybe we just chose a bad night.

Emdoneni Lodge was a lovely experience, such a treat, not too far from Durban.
We stayed at the lodge for two days and would like thank Deserè and her wonderful team for their warm, kind, friendly hospitality.
Deserè and Cindy (Head Chef) provided well presented and delicious 3 course breakfasts and dinners for us each day . Nothing was a problem.
Our accommodation was very comfortable, clean and well maintained, nestled in the tranquil, lush gardens.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Cheetah and Wild Cat Tour - getting up close and personal with these amazing animals was a great experience. The two guides, Wonder and Thymon were very knowledgeable, friendly and had a wonderful sense of humour. The animal enclosures were well maintained and the cats are obviously well treated and looked after.
We would highly recommend the Lodge and the Cheetah Project to anyone who wishes to visit the area together with your friendly, kind staff and look forward to returning soon.

We had a wonderful stay at this lodge. At the time of our stay, we were the only guests at the lodge. The lodge is very big (45 rooms) and there is so much to do. Think it is a awesome place for families as well, as there are so much fun activities for kids. The staff of Endoneni were incredible, they made our stay so special. The chalet was filled with beautiful flowers, picked from their beautiful gardens. Although we were the only two guests there, they lid the fire in the fire pit every night and the two of us had some wonderful drinks sitting looking at the fire. The food was absolute delicious and nicely presented. We got a dinner menu every morning at breakfast were after we placed our order for the night. I can only rave about the food, the staff know how to treat people with their culinary skills. Although the Covid brought many challenges to the lodge, they respect every one of the rules and tried to make it as safe as possible for their guests. I definitely recommend this lodge, and give them a point of 12 out of 10 - they deserve 2 bonus points for all their efforts and kindness.

We arrived in the afternoon and were checked in quickly. We got a large metal key and headed through beautifully landscaped grounds to our cabin room. Upon entering the room, we noticed it was designed with an African theme, with a large picture of a leopard on the wall and cushions on the bed. There were two twin beds pushed together, each with its own bedding. The bathroom contained a glass enclosed shower stall, a septic-tank run toilet, liquid soap, and thick towels. The pool was small, with a surrounding pool deck. The food that we had there was quite good. The staff was friendly. We saw zebras and impala on the property.

The place had charm and you are definitely in the country when you are there. The Internet service was poor and there was no TV, but we didn’t expect much from such a rural place. One member of our group found a snake her room. A lizard crawled across the wall in our room. It’s necessary to check for mosquitoes in the room. I opened the curtains in the room and the shades in the bathroom to be sure I could see all of them. We killed a few and were careful to quickly close the door when entering the room.

If you are looking for a charming country place, you will enjoy this one.

Greetings. Karoleigh! Thank you for your feedback Emdoneni Lodge is known for our exceptional attention to detail. We are glad that you experienced Emdoneni's charm. I am sorry that the gecko ruined some of the charm for you I remember we even had a chat about it, but the gecko's play an important role in the ecosystem, mainly because they feed on mosquitoes. Maybe this will make you spread some gecko love. We hardly get anyone mentioning TV when they visit us. Our guests that visit normally enjoy nature and spend lots of family time together. The Main Lounge Area does have a TV, but it is hardly requested by our guests to be switched on. Sending you lots of Emdoneni Charm Ruth

We arrived at the lodge and we were met by friendly staff members and taken to our rooms, the rooms were very nice and have air conditioners that work well and a nice stoop to sit on, very clean and give a peaceful feeling.
The food was excellent and well worth having and again the staff are very friendly and delivered on everything you asked for.

The Lodge is located in a good place close enough to make day trips to the parks and wetlands and even taking a trip to Richards bay for shopping

I would recommend this Lodge to everyone

As a young family, paying R 11 000.00 for a 2 night stay (including some activities) was expensive for us but I decided on Emdoneni because of the online reviews and pictures.

We were the only people booked into the lodge during our stay but the service was shocking. There were maybe 4 staff members ("receptionist", chef, and 2 x spa therapists) that seemed to be doing everything at the lodge.

I have asked to be contacted by the owners/senior management but no one has contacted me to date.

Whilst I don't mind paying a premium for this, I expected a much better reception and service.

Overall a very pleasant stay. Staff were good, especially the lady who served us in the restaurant. Food was very good. Considering that we were the only ones staying, credit must go to the staff for their high spirits. We were in room 47, which unfortunately was very cold, and there was a lot of condensation overnight, which gave clothing a damp feeling. This may have been caused by the steam from the shower. Plug in the basin got stuck and we could not get it out eventually. Cat tour was very pleasant and informative.

The Emdoneni Lodge is an excellent place for us to experience our trip to South Africa. We stayed there for 2 nights. Our lodge has a very beautiful landscape, surrounded by many plants and gave us a sense of serenity of living amidst nature.
We managed to take pictures with the cheetah, up close and personal, and saw a few other animals from the big cat family.
The food was also excellent. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner in the beautiful garden decorated with bright and colorful lighting.
The most memorable encounter at this lodge however was the way the staff helped me find my lost wallet. After reporting my lost wallet which had my driver’s licence, credit card and health card to my tour manager, the owner of the lodge together with the housekeeping manager and housekeeping staff came to our room to help me locate my missing wallet. They literally turned our room upside down, looking at all the possible areas where the wallet might have been misplaced. Lo and behold, they managed to locate my wallet neatly tucked behind the lip of the safe deposit box, which was not visible if one were looking directly at the safe. We are so grateful for their dedicated efforts in helping me find my missing wallet. We cannot thank them enough for what they have done for us, and we would sincerely like to express our gratitude towards them.

We always try and choose hotels and lodges with garden rooms, and this is one of the best we have ever stayed in. The room itself was nothing special, but the gardens surrounding it are beautifully maintained with a large variety of trees, flowers, and butterflies. The room had a lovely big window looking out over the back of the gardens too.

The food was excellent - especially the breakfasts with some wonderful home made scones and honey from bees on the estate. The cheetah & cat conservation project is a wonderful initiative which must be very expensive for the owners to keep going - staying in the lodge is a good way to support it. You can adopt a cheetah for a year, or for life, too.

Hi Becky, I did not pay extra for the personal interaction, and rolling on the grass with Summer and Raine. It was a thrill I'm glad to have experienced, especially with Gerry getting it all on video. While there was no charge, In addition to the tip for the staff, I did tip him individually.
