From the moment that we arrived, we experienced the warmth , caring and friendly manner in which the staff of Bayala welcomed us. The Lodge reception area was beautifully decorated . The surroundings was green with aloes and trees to create a bush backdrop with the Nyalas, Impalas and Warthog with her little babies wandering through the camp. The swimming pool with its blue water was a relief for the swelling heat on the outside. The rooms was decorated in light gray and white with a picture of the wild life above the bed, setting a relaxed ambience. The aircon relieved the outside temperature and the beds was comfortable and cosy. Ensuite bathroom , with huge shower ,felt luxuries . Food was delicious and such a pleasure for the eye. Our game drives was the highlight of our stay. Chris, our game ranger, was very knowledgeable and relaxed. He entertaintain us with his charming personality, as he gave us detailed habits and behaviour of all the wild on our drive. We were so lucky to witness mating of lioness 3 meters of our vehicle. We saw all of the big five except for the leopard and lots of beautiful coloured birds. The highlight at the end of our evening drive was the view on top of the highest mountain , looking over the valley, coloured light pink with the setting sun rays and peaceful nature. Standing there with our evening drinks ,we felt the appreciation of being alive . The braai at the boma, our first evening meal, was decorated with fairy lights. The flickering flames of the fire was a delight and create a beautiful social area, where we laughed and talk till late. The morning drives was unique in the sense that we saw different animals early morning. Our morning amarula coffee and rusks was at a beautiful large dam, where two hippos were splashing around ,very curious of us ,looking at them. That was so special. The overall experience was unforgettable and the highlight of our Coughlans business group ,get away and bonding time. The five star quality serves we reserve and the laid back appeal of the lodge make this one of our most favourite places to go. Thank you so much to Roxy and her staff for this pleasant and memorable experience.

I recently spent 3 nights at Bayala private safari lodge with my mother, boyfriend and our friend. We had a terrific stay and thoroughly enjoyed our 6 game drives with Chris! We saw 4 of the Big 5 and learnt so much about the other wonderful animals, flora and insects in the bush! Highlights were seeing a mother lioness with her 2 cubs and a mother cheetah with her 2 cubs! I hope to visit again soon!

The safari guides are amazing - the wildlife we saw exceeded expectations. Wow wow wow! The lodge itself is great, the rooms are basic but clean with comfy beds, the downside is the food, we had expected to have local meat cooked traditionally but sadly this wasn’t the case. That being said it was all about those amazing creatures living their best life in the wild.

Overhaul, the experience was good, marred only by the food. The poncho's supplied on the day that it rained very slightly had no effect, we may as well have had nothing on... they were not even water resistant.

Our group had a lovely time. The swimming pool kept the teenagers busy for the time between game drives. The Lodge is just missing a watering hole and hide which would help pass the time between game drives. Would otherwise recommend Bayala!

Bayala is the best value for money family African getaway in Zululand. We saw everything but Leopard. Our game driver Alson was amazing and all the staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home. We will definitely be back again soon to stay

Everything was perfect, from the rooms, to the staff, the food and the game drives. The lodge gives you a proper feel of the bush while mixing it with style and luxury. The food was amazing and the game drives are relaxing and wonderful for viewing
