The bed was old and too soft for my taste. It was only comfortable the first of my 3 nights as I was tired upon arrival. Although I booked a room with a "bathtub and shower", the shower situation was quite uncomfortable. I thought I was coordinated enough to have a decent shower but I still got everything in the bathroom wet. I also wasted water and felt cold as I had to put the shower stick down so I could lather up with soap. If this were my bathroom, I'd prefer a wall mount for the shower stick and possibly a curtain.
My title for this review comes from the warm hospitality I got during every moment I was a guest. Upon mentioning a problem with an item in the bathroom, it was immediately replaced. The full breakfast was very well cooked and presented. I paid Gerhard a little to drop me at the stadium to do the climbing tour and see the first Saturday of the month market. He invited me along to watch an exciting rugby game while he did his photography job. I also paid a fair fee for him to bring me to the airport.
Gerhard and Yuri are fantastic hosts! Despite the lack of comfort with the bed and shower, I would never be able to say enough about how friendly, accommodating, and caring they are! They are two true gems who work very hard to run a B&B.

I was travelling to Durban to shoot at "The Silent Protest" event and I needed somewhere to stay for two nights. As I travel with a vehicle full of very expensive camera equipment, I have very specific needs with regards to parking security. When I spoke with the management, they said they would make sure that my vehicle was well secure. And they delivered in style. The room was comfortable and well equipped with Television, Fridge & Coffee/Tea facilities. The bathroom was nicely finished i an older style with a slipper bath. But the highlight for me was the proprietors, they couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. They provided me with a lock up garage for my vehicle and equipment, and that is a huge weight off my mind in these instances. On the day of my arrival, I was checking where the event was going to happen and as I was going out, one of te owners was baking and I mentioned how good it smelled. When I returned later, there was a slice of the Lemon meringue pie she had been baking, waiting for me in my room. They really made me feel at home,, offering advice as to whereto eat and ensuring that everything was in order. They made sure that I had breakfast extra early on the day of the shoot which made it easier for me to get to the venue extra early. The room was charming and I enjoyed my stay. Would I stay here again, most definitely!!

I spent only one night at Terebinte and found I was sad to leave the following morning. The room decor was charming and eclectic and Yuri, the owner hostess was welcoming and warm. I particularly appreciated its proximity to major city landmarks and freeways yet it still had a feeling of relaxed tranquility. Having off street parking was a definite bonus. If I have one minor issue it is that it was a particularly cold night and the heating function of the airconditioning unit did not seem to work. Staying warm meant staying in the bed and bathroom visits were rather nippy.

My stay at Terebinte B&B was uplifting, friendly and full of joy!
The unique interior rooms makes every wake-up special! Gerhard and his wife Yuri makes the best of every aspects of your stay.
From picking one from the airport(at additions cost) to the breakfast every morning has my stay at Terebinte been a warm one. Gerhard and his team makes you feel at ease and will go out of their way to make you stay enjoyable. It true that Terebinte’s owners is one of the reason I return every time. Its home away from home.
Terebinte ‘s location is near major roads, shopping malls and hitting the town via own car or Uber is just 7 min away.
One of the best places to stay when visiting Durban for work or holiday.

AMENITIES: The room was equipped with a fridge, an electric kettle (for heating water), coffee/tea, cream & sugar. They did provide a bath towel, soap and linen. I brought my own wash cloth, shampoo and conditioner. The A/C worked well and was good for keeping the mosquitoes out. There was a television with cable but I did not use it. The bed seemed a bit old and sagging. The WiFi was good for basic emails but you could not stream videos well. It would have been nice to have a proper shower but was fine using the bath tub. The water was warm which is good.

LOCATION: The B&B was nearby the Glenwood Village Spar where you can purchase groceries and toiletries. I was able to use the khumbi taxis (informal public transportation) to get to the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Howard College) for 8 Rands or to the city center for 5 Rands. I did notice a sign for a laundromat nearby but never checked out the facilities.

FOOD: I did have breakfast a couple of the mornings which was nice. They prepared a warm breakfast one morning in their home and delivered a basic breakfast on Sunday morning. Nothing too exciting or memorable but filled me up.

GOOD SERVICE: The battery for the controller for the A/C was dead. I contacted Gerard and within 10 minutes he was in the room and replaced the battery. I appreciated his fast response. I also needed to catch an airport shuttle to save on transportation costs that was less than 10 minutes from the B&B. Gerard graciously provided the transportation for me in his personal car.

ANIMALS: There was a cat the lived at the B&B who was friendly. I know locals find the vervet monkeys to be pests but as a tourist I enjoyed seeing the monkeys visit the large mango tree at the B&B. Got some up close photos.

I would definitely consider staying there again when visiting Durban.

I have stayed in this B&B twice now and i can honestly say... This place is amazing! The hosts Gerhard and Yuri are very welcoming and friendly, they make you feel like at home.
The first time I stayed there I got to know them and a little bit about their business and their passion for it. I couldn't fault it at all. The rooms are a very acquired taste, very unique... but I loved it. It was different. The B&B has off-road parking (which is always good).

The second time I stayed there I had an issue with the shower (it broke and flooded the bathroom). The hosts were very quick to sort it out and while it was being fixed, they offered me alternatives, which I was very pleased with.

The breakfast is absolutely lovely, fresh juice, perfectly cooked eggs (fried or scrambled), bacon nice and juicy. Just what you need to give you energy for a busy day ahead.

If I was to go back to Durban, I would definitely book with Terebinth again!

We stayed in the "red room" - spacious and comfortable with coffee making facilities and a small fridge. Loved the interesting décor and huge shower. Thoroughly enjoyed the glass of sherry upon our arrival, a nice personal touch. Breakfast was freshly prepared and served in the beautiful main house with its warm atmosphere and loads of character. There was a little confusion regarding our check-in initially, but it was sorted out quickly. We would definitely recommend Terebinte.

I travel regularly to Durban on business. Hotels often feel impersonal & boring. The hosts of Terebinte manage to make a business trip feel like one is staying at "a home away from home". They are always friendly and accommodating. I enjoy the creative decorations in each of the rooms. Rooms are clean and spacious. Nothing like a home cooked breakfast too, which they always serve with an awesome cup of coffee. The area (Glenwood) is also well located with easy access to nearby restaurants and shops, but also quick access to major routes if clients need to be visited. This is why I regularly stay here when on business.

I would highly recommend anyone to stay at Terebinte guesthouse. The friendly owners Gerhard and Yuri makes you feel right at home. The rooms are unique and beautifully decorated. I just love the antique furniture and the artwork in each room. By far the best place to stay when visiting Durban.
