Smith's Cottage was the exact reprieve we needed! We arrived tired, and left refreshed. The hosts are super welcoming and accommodating, the cabins were clean, showers were clean and the beds were quite comfortable. I'm always weary of hostels, but this one felt safe and was quiet! If you're looking for an affordable, quiet stay in Durban, I would certainly recommend S\mith's Cottage!

Pat & Keith really make you feel at home from the minute you arrive to Smith’s Cottage. Their beautiful guest house is extremely tranquil, the beds are comfortable and Keith even gave me a little Durban tour when driving me to the city centre.

I spent 3 days with Keith and Pat after backpacking the Garden Route and it was the perfect place to decompress and plan the next stage of my travels (Although if you're looking for a party, perhaps look elsewhere). The hostel is at their house; tons of beautiful spaces, very clean, decent location, and you cannot beat their hospitality. Keith typically drove me to dinner each night and had a glass of wine while I ate! Make sure to ask him about his contraband-running trips to Malawi. Haha. Pat was the kindest and always offered to make breakfast. This was the perfect stay for me and I count both Pat and Keith as friends now.

Smith's cottage was the best choice I made for my weekend stay in Durban. The old couple are the mostly friendly and lovely quest house owners I've ever seen, so helpful in settling in and around city, took me in and around the place with their own car without paying an extra cent, and transport me back to the city to catch my bus back to JHB. Great and nice place to stay in Durban. I strongly recommend this without any doubt. 100℅ enjoy my short stay. Hospitality out of this world.
