Our family recently used Cornerway Guest House as a weekend base for a wedding. We were a large party comprising of two families of four each, as well as Grandma and Grandpa. We were housed in various rooms in the guest house. Positive experiences: Our host, Kate and her staff did their best to please us. They accommodated our dietary requirements for breakfast. Breakfast in general was very good, with a good selection of cereals, fruit, muffins and hot meals. The rooms were tastefully furnished and had air conditioning. The beds were comfortable and the linen very clean. The rooms have flat screen TV's with a decent DSTV bouquet. The pool area is a great place to relax. The B&B is not far from a shopping centre, which houses a library, book exchange, laundry , SPAR and restaurants. From the B&B, one has easy access to the main road leading to Durban or Umhlanga. Negative experiences : The rooms do not have bar fridges, which can be useful to store drinks for the hot Durban summers. Our room (Room 1) did not have sufficient surface area in the bathroom to store toiletries. There are no covered parking areas to protect vehicles from the hot summer sun. The rooms do not have hair driers - one has to request for hair driers. The DSTV bouquet does not have much options for small children. Despite these criticisms, this is a definitely a guesthouse to consider if you are staying in the Durban North area.…
