Nice place but haaai house keeping didn't not treat us nice. We return from the beach have lunch and prepare to go out so it's around 12noon. This lady was fixing beds while we were busy getting dressed, talk about rude. Mopping floors and all that while we were in the room. She could have fixed the beds and mopped while we were out in the morning.

During family vacations, my family and I used to book at Coastlands Hotel and there was never a single year where we were disappointed by the service, rooms (air conditioned) or the staff for that matter and the beach it less then a 5 minute walk. Recommended.

The hotel has good infrastructure, but the service needs serious improvement.
1. I could not access internet and the tech guys were absolutely useless about that
2. Someone walked into my room while I was half naked because they mistakenly re-assigned it to another guest, just hours after assigning it to me. When I complained, the receptionist hung up on me and offered no apologies
3. There was a function at the convention center (11th floor) and I couldn't sleep due to loud music even though I was 2 floors below
4. One receptionist (tall Indian guy) was particularly rude and full of attitude. He needs customer service Training badly.

Like I said the hotel has decent facilities (except for the gym and pool, which are way too small for a hotel that size); but service standards need serious overhauling.

To be in that hotel just drained every idea of celebrating our marriage. The management don't care for the people who are bringing them business. Its a shame! The place was smelling through the corridor, the cutlery was outdated, the stove was rusty, the mattress was so old that we wake up tired in the morning. The chair in the bedroom was from the day they opened the hotel it has hole, the curtains are dull the bathroom, it's a joke. Instead of replacing they painting old outdated bath .....ooogh its horrible. We complain asking the manager he never attend us, just imagine, that was bad and we booked six nights there .... No mam this is poor ..

The Coastlands building is centrally located for easy access to the Durban area and surrounding suburbs.

Parking is fairly spacious, not cramped, and parking longer vehicles is easy.

The self catering rooms are ideal for people who want to look after themselves in a simple straight forward environment. Shops for groceries are very close to the building. There is also a 24 hour service station, which includes a shop selling basic items like milk, a block away.

I had a great experience in the coastlands hotel, an awesome time of my life being served and treated well. Everything was well prepared on time and i am honoured to get an experience in my life. Hopefully, i'll be able to take my other friends, family, partner for them to get such good treatment. However, what is more exciting is that they allow you to go out at anytime you want. The staff was so friendly and understood our queries very quickly. It was a fantastic time indeed, plus the decor was sooooooo beautiful. Big ups to the decorators. Moreover, the hotel is not far from the beach and is not far from the shops. Therefore, that made things easier for us. But, the room that I was been offered did not make me happy because of the their orange decor. The services that were offered to me was good receptionism, clean room at all times, good decorations in the eating room (breakfast and super) and in the event's room (gala dinner), good, well and enough food to eat, enough furniture to use and well working lifts. The coastlands hotel deserves all the credit for the good service they offering to the people. In addition, it was a life time experience that one will never forget even if he/she went to the most expensive hotels.

Coastlands was clearly once a brilliant hotel in a fabulous location right by the beach - but when we visited it it was terrifyingly chaotic, badly run and any complaints or requests were met with utter derision and contempt from overworked and grumpy staff. I could note that the furniture in the rooms is old and needs replacing, that the windows are dirty and that the showers appear to only have boiling hot water most of the time, but this would detract from the true horrors that lie outside the rooms!

On arrival the hotel lobby was packed with guests coming from the beach not wearing masks whilst the country was experiencing 20,000 COVID cases a day. Some of the staff were not wearing masks and the doorman was letting people in maskless. This is of course massively irresponsible and illegal. I asked the receptionist to put his mask on, he rudely refused and looked annoyed at my simple request that he follow the law. From checkin the line for the lifts was insane - people reported waiting for hours. I tried walking up 23 flights of stairs in the Durban heat - it was not fun. I then needed food but couldn't get a lift down - long waits and when the lifts did come they were jam packed with unmasked guests trapped in a COVID hotbox. I had to walk down 23 flights of stairs to get food, then back up again to my room. I left my suitcase in the car - there was just no way to get it to the room.
