Upon our family's visit to Garden Court South Beach, we were turned away from parking and sent to 1st check-in. During the check-in process we discover that we had to pay for parking, this is disappointing as it was neither communicated during the booking process nor included in the booking amount. To our surprise the parking bays are so small you have to be a slender to fit in between cars.

After check-in we proceeded to our room and the following improvement areas should be considered:
1. The room entrance is so tight you can't easily fit a baby stroller.
2. There is no power point / electrical plugs by the bedside.
3. There were no drinking glasses in the room, we were told that we had to hire glasses at the hotel bar downstairs.
4. The room's bathroom is so small and outdated with a bathtub that doubles as a shower. The towel rack is located right above the toilet. Furthermore the toilet paper is not at the best angle from the toilet.
5. The ratio of number of guests in the 23 floors compared to the 5 elevators is inadequate as it is a real struggle moving between floors considering COVID19 regulations.

The hotel offers repetitive breakfast with minimal changes. The following improvement areas should be considered regarding breakfast:
1. The cooking method should reduce frying for the hot breakfast.
2. The English breakfast should offer more changes instead of only substituting one or 2 items as it gets tiring after a few mornings.
3. The cold breakfast should offer more types of cheeses and cold meats instead of only cheddar cheese and ham.
4. There should be more juice options instead of orange and apple daily.

What an excellent reception and friendly staff at Garden Court South Beach. Big up, guys. We enjoyed the breakfast to the fullest.
Many thanks to the lady who made sure our night was more peaceful than the day of arrival after we complained about the mattresses, which showed that you guys really care about your clients.

This Hotel always tries to improve itself , and gets better on each visit
the process was easy from check-in to check-out,
Staff were efficient and well trained to deal with guest over the covid 19 pandemic
The rooms we had were exceptional, spotless ,contemporary with beautiful ocean views.
Breakfast still remains wonderful, with a big variety . I was impressed of the new process of having staff dish out for you to ensure that dining experience remains safe for all guest . The overall visit was great and will return soon

Yes, we had to stay there as a Team's base arrangement. The location is bad. the area around is terribly busy, noisy at night, not to mention the beach lounge which blasts music till early morning. Would not recommend walking around after dark and behind the building. Number of rooms located directly opposite or near lifts., therefore in rooms you hear as lifts as people. Very noisy. Lifts are slow and at busy time, like breakfast time, you may have to rather take stairs.
Breakfast is a considerably basic buffet, but of decent quality. Remember, it a 3 Star Hotel.
Rooms are dated and dull.
Bed and linen... just OK. No duvet covers just a blanket over the sheet...
Everything is functioning though, but doors are very squeaky. Soundproofing is not existing. You hear every room's toilet flush, not to mention your own room's bathroom taps and toilet flush. It's a budget hotel attracting budget crowd...On a positive note, the Hotel has Spur restaurant on the ground floor and kiosk where you may buy water and snack. Staff is very friendly and attending to your requests.
Summary, its ok if you are on tight budget and must be there. Otherwise, pay a just a bit more and stay at Edward Hotel (4 star) 300m away with excellent restaurant., quality soundproof rooms and quiet surroundings. Both hotels belong to reputable hotel group Southern Sun

The physical hotel is really nice. It is well maintained, comfortable and welcoming. The room is spacious and the view is something to see.
However, the service on the other hand is terrible. The staff are not very interested in helping you when you make requests. The room service was annoyed by me asking for more tea bags and sighed over the phone as if I was asking for the world.
The breakfast was terrible, served in a box due to covid, cold eggs, a fruit box with only appels in it and a large container of yogurt that leaked in the box. There is also a rule in the hotel that a customer is only allowed one drink, they can choose from 2 juices or tea and coffee. I find this breakfast completely unacceptable, customers are expected to pay a full price for a stay and are usually treated to a buffet, but instead we get cold and limited food. I'm not asking for them to break the law and open a buffet, but they can try and accommodate by letting customers order breakfast from their rooms for free and provide unlimited drinks like they would in normal conditions.

The room was dirty on arrival, like in really dirty. Called housekeeping and had to show them where to clean. The carpet has not seen a vacuum cleaner or soap in weeks. The arm chair was just as dirty. Even the telephone was not cleaned. The desk had dust on and the broken table lamp has also not seen a cloth in some time. The shower curtain had toothpaste marks on and was not wiped on the inside. There was a chip on the floor next to the bed (not ours) and on day 3 I left a sticky note to vacuum the carpet. They should show you the room before you pay. Things could not get worse, or so I thought. Breakfast - the cooks have no idea how to serve breakfast and are the 2 most incompetent people I have seen. Unfriendly and unhelpful. Seems that everything is too much effort. You order eggs, she can't multitask and put your toast in at the same time. Then you stand in the queue for the hot food while the eggs and toast gets cold. Oh, and you have to ask for a big plate otherwise she puts the egg on a small plate. The spread of food was very strange, catering for a specific market. Vegetables and potatoes not breakfast food. The bacon was not cooked properly , still pale with white fat on or completely burned. How can you get bacon wrong? The ladies on the floor cleaning plates etc were very friendly and efficient. I thought that staying at Tsogo Sun would live up to the standards that we are used to. Not true. And please don"t respond with your copy and paste answer that you will look into it and address it. Do something about it.

For the rate that I paid, the room was not up to standard. The bed was changed but the replaced bed was old and springy. The breakfast offering seems to be getting lesser and lesser each stay. Please offer a room or a package rate to your customers instead of being inflexible when requesting this - this must be communicated to senior management please.

Service your lifts so that they can be efficient. Provide toilet brash so that your guests can clean toilets in case the toilet gets dirty. Clean your irons and fix them. A dirty iron spoils the day of a guest

As always, the Southern Sun hotels are great. On the beach front, walking distance from Marine world, and not expensive, with under cover, secure parking; what else do you need for a perfect breakaway or workaway? The people working at reception were very friendly and assisted every request or question politely.

Check in took 20 minutes for each person. not sure why. our room was clean and functional, everything worked, and well equipped, housekeeping gave us extra milk and coffee when requested, ( not happily) The public areas a little tired and need upgrading, we ate in the resturant downstairs- functional and noisy but good food.
Parking good and safe. Breakfast, bit lie a canteen, but very good selection and tasty food .
