Nice lodge outside city centre of Durban. Spacious and clean rooms. The staff is very friendly and cooperative. Guards are there day and night which gives a secure feeling. Breakfast is basic but nice. Total experiance is value for money. When I will come to Durban I will stay here again

The lodge is more like a B n B but the service is like a hotel. You get crisp, fresh linnen and towels;plus complementary tea/coffee and toiletries as you would at a hotel.
It is self-catering but not fully serviced.
The breakfast adds a good kickstart for the day. Housekeeping is also available.Spacious, comfortable rooms.Situated away from beaches and hub;but not too far out.
Value for money.
Not suitable for those looking for luxury.

We had a problem with tight parking every day. It was a frustrating task getting in and out of the Lodge. Security is a joke. Their guards were shockingly rude and aggressive. Compaints to the Management of Laletsa and their Security Company was fruitless. I would NEVER stay at Laletsa again. Who wants to stay at a place where you must be afraid of and not trust the security on duty, especially when you have young kids staying with you.

We stayed for two nights at the Laletsa Lodge B&B in the Berea section of Durban while on a business trip during the Durban July race weekend. My room was comfortable, in a basic African motif. The bed was clean and comfortable, and property was relatively well kept. Basic television service was provided. The breakfast buffet was average, with eggs cooked to order as well as cereals, yoghurts, fruit, breakfast meats etc.

The property is composed of 4 building connected by stone walkways and steps, with several pools. The only fully accessible rooms were in the reception building, and even then, one would have to navigate 5-6 stone steps to get to the breakfast room.

The desk staff was helpful in arranging dinner reservations and a cab to the Ushaka Marine world. The lodge parking was rather tight due to their location on a very steep hill, and the security gates needed to be opened for admittance.

The Lodge was fully booked because of it being the Durban July race weekend, which made our experience less than great. There were many university students staying there who were heavily into partying. This made it very noisy in most of the property. The staff did not seem to take any responsibility for encouraging consideration of other guests.

Booked a night at Laletsa as we wanted to try it out first before paying to stay for a whole week as we intended to. The parking space is very tight, concrete floors and age old furnishings makes this lodge feel 'cold'. We were given the honeymoon suite as we were with our 2 year old and the king size bed was ideal for us to have her sleep in as well. The room itself was spacious, very outdated. Bathroom was renovated but old fixtures etc remained and it was dingy with a dirty basin. The bedding was dirty, found hairs in the teacups and the kettle and microwave was ancient and filthy as well. We didnt stay for breakfast, we check out early next morning.

Definitely for those whom are on a tight budget. Refrain from booking the honeymoon suite, its a nightmare!
For R100 extra per night we booked in at a boutique hotel which was ultra modern and sophisticated so Laletsa should consider doing some much needed upgrades to their lodge.
